England - Scotland was ‘no result’ so technically a tie with 1 point apiece

Technically it's no result.

A tie game happens when two teams are at the same score after completing both innings.

You are absolutely right. What about my concern??

If a game was so close that it ended in a draw, then I think the chance should remain in the pool
reply

First of all, there's no game in T20 that ends in a draw. We always get a 'result' or 'no result'.

Also, the rules for the pool have been decided prior to the world cup. If a match gets to a result anyhow, that result will always be counted for the pool.

Team winning in innings or in super over, a win is a win and a loss is a loss, so there's no point of discussing it.

reply

You can agree or disagree with my point. but what the hell,

"a win is a win and a loss is a loss, so there is no point of discussing it."

We are here for discussion and learning something on SN.

reply

No, it shouldn't be to be really honest.

Even 1 run can win or lose you a match so it cannot get any closer than that.

reply

Do they not replay that game?

reply

There is no time to replay

reply

Interesting. How does it impact the group standings? What happens if there is a tie between those two teams to get into the next round but they have no result in that game to judge tiebreaker from?

reply

Actually, for this reason we have a super over. It works like a tiebreaker.

reply

No one was eliminated in this game. But in the game I am talking about, many were eliminated in a close game

reply

That's the whole point of prediction, one wins and the other loses, doesn't matter the margin close or long.
