Took his play as a chance to compile some random facts about dolphins n whales
Whales n dolphins are marine mammals.
Bottlenose dolphins use sounds to communicate with other dolphins underwater because it is dark and murky, so they can’t see each other.
Each dolphin has its own special whistle. This is its name. It tells other dolphins who it is. Scientists believe that calves come up with their signature whistle themselves. By the time a calf is one year old, its signature whistle is set.
Dolphins are born tail first. This is so they don’t drown as they are being born. They swim straight to the surface to their first gulp of air.
Bottlenose dolphins eat fish, squid and shrimp.
The blue whale is the largest animal in the world. It doesn’t have teeth but has rows of baleen in its mouth to catch its prey. It talks to other whales miles across the oceans; its voice is reportedly louder than a jet aeroplane’s.

I don’t think I have looked at human interactions with these creatures the same way since watching a documentary double dose of ‘The Cove’ and ‘Blackfish’. Beautiful creatures.

Have you read about John Lily? He was trying to talk with them, then got into ketamine and died somehow

Was he the guy doing the NASA funded talking to dolphins experiments? And one of the researchers would fiddle with the dolphins after hours?

Before I clicked the post I thought to myself, oh no, the child is going to learn about death now. New aquariums always have many upside down floaters the next morning. I was happy to see the animals are plastic.

He already has some inkling of death because his random YouTube surfing leads to the inexplicable cases of whales in Australia beaching themselves. It’s quite sad

Yes. Kids learn at an earlier age than they did in my generation.

Like dolphins, whales are excellent communicators, and they show high levels of emotional and social intelligence. They also have very large brains, actually some of the largest. Sperm whales' brains are the largest on the planet, with its weight being almost 5 times as much as a human's
