I’ve seen a few experiments like this. I get the sense there’s a big opportunity here.
Yep, this is a big opportunity. I've thought about this concept.
Very cool stuff.
Websites are Nostr events, themes are open-source The Ghost themes published on relays and Blossom servers. Npub.pro does not host your data, it only hosts the code to convert Nostr events to web pages. The NIP-512 is here.

it's really cool indeed, but is the content delete / editable?
why not login with LN and integrate with Ghost blog? Hosting your own blog is already pretty easy these days, the hard part is how to keep the value flowing without selling your soul / I don't really see how this Nostr based blog making creators' life easier yet.

You might be able to tell it to not show something.

I think it might help creators show all the varied kinds of nostr events in one place. Rather than a twitter widget and youtube widget and a comment widget, it's all just nostr events that can be reskinned however you want. And if you trust your relays or use enough of them, you don't have to host the events yourself.

but the idea of blog is having your own digital home where you can have FULL control?

I like SN's model more: not only much simpler but also focuses on solving the main problem: value flowing. 👀

That's a great point, but I suspect not all people use blogs that way. Some people probably just want a showcase of their online life where they can control how it's presented.
reply
Exactly. And your content can't be censored. No more domain slavery.

TheWildHustle is pretty amazed.
Was messing with cypher.space and ghost.
But crossposting on SN to Nostr and having it show up on the blog is pretty clean.
Was amazed when Hustle went through the process of creating another blog, to find his posts and profile info waiting for him.
This nostr stuff is alright by Hustle.

Thanks for trying it, let me know if you have any feedback!

I tested it, the comments on npub.pro sometimes do not load, sometimes load but with not all comments.
reply
Maybe show a loading animation before the comments loads. I think the sites are slow to load too

I don't understand how GoDaddy url is decentralization.
reply
This is really cool!
I'll definitely try it

Is there a self-hosting option?
Looks awesome! Thank you for trying it!
reply
I am getting stuck in the "This may take 5-10 seconds to complete" every time I try it, but I really like the concept so I'm going to keep trying from time to time
edit: I see the error "fetchRelays timeout" in console

Can you please send me your npub, I will try to figure out what went wrong. Thank you!

npub is npub1saessfmtu5xwnwh60e0rwnj0e067npv6yxgc7d96algqqart056s5gkuqh I actually see the error Error: Failed to reserve domain name when it gets to this screen, maybe something wrong with my name or username having unknown digits or emojis? thanks for looking into it
reply
Thanks for the input, fixed! Please try again, yes it was underscore in your username :)
reply
thanks! It did actually work this time :) https://rafael-xmr.npub.pro/

This is really amazing! It would be much much better if they could add a theme for an online marketplace. I've a product to sell only for sats.
I also intend to roll it out on SN.
reply
Would be great to see NIP15/99 support and some sort of Bitescrow integration.
Project just launched, so I'm assuming its somewhere on their roadmap.
reply
Yes right now we only support kind 1 notes and kind 30023 long-form posts, but all other kinds are possible in theory, so we will get there eventually!
reply
I really need to get into this. As someone that has used wordpress for a while, it is pretty expensive and is very complex to use. I would love something like this for www.satsmate.com
reply
Please let me know if you get a chance to try it and have any feedback or issues or feature requests. Thanks!
reply
Great!
Are these decentralized websites that we can create here?
reply
I'm not really a kind:30023 creator yet, but to have a cool blog already setup is pretty lit.
Also @brugeman, not sure if you are planning on monetizing it, but maybe asking some sats 1 for the *.npub.pro subdomains could help prevent abuse.
P.S. I'm happy the subdomain https://ella.npub.pro was available. :)
Footnotes
  1. Something ranging from 500 to 5000 sats, like minibits.cash or npub.cash are doing, would be reasonable.
reply
You don't have to be kind:30023 creator kind:1 works well too!
We do have paid plans on the roadmap, and some abuse prevention measures, hope we can keep npub.pro subdomains free as much as possible. We'll see how it goes.
reply
Thanks for replying. 😉
Also, as an idea, if you guys manage to implement a "subscription"/notification 1 feature, it would make Substack pretty much obsolete for me.
Footnotes
  1. I mean, both by email and nostr DMs.
reply
There are a lot of types of subs/notifications we could do:
  • push notifications, these sites are PWAs and push notifications seem to make sense
  • follow button to just add the creator to nostr contact list
  • subscribe button that adds the site to some new "followed websites" list - need apps to start supporting those
  • subscribe-by-email - you can already do that, just add js code of one the ConvertKit/mailchimp/etc services and collect emails of the visitors (will need a nostr-to-email bridge of some sort to deliver updates to subscribers)
  • paid subscriptions - view posts previews as anon, pay and subscribe to view the full posts
All of this will come, eventually. Right now we'll be focusing on talking to the first users and prioritize from there.

Oh, I forgot about those. 😅

You are right. The email thing is just a matter of adding it to the header/footer. Thanks for the pointer.
paid subscriptions - view posts previews as anon, pay and subscribe to view the full posts
That is gonna be awesome.
reply
Yes lots of potential!
