That's pretty incredible that Lake Placid is still benefiting from the Miracle on Ice. I am sure the movie helped too.

Truthfully, Lake Placid doesn't have a lot going for it anyway. I think they still hold college hockey tournaments at the rink, and there is skiing at Whiteface, but the economy is really in the tank. There has been lots of poverty up there for years.

That's too bad. When I look at pictures of Lake Placid it reminds me of where I live. Resort style town near the water also close to skiing. Would have thought it would be more popular amongst NYers but probably a lot more competing towns in NY state, whereas here in Ontario there is a lot of competing towns when it comes to cottaging, lakeside vacationing, but not a lot of competition for the ski crowd. At least not nearby.
