Hey everyone!
We just launched the mainnet for our app called Workit. It's a fully-fledged Lightning Keychain with both custodial and self-custodial solutions (the latter will be activated soon), developed with LDK. Workit operates globally in every country.
You can earn Bitcoin simply by walking or completing other physical activities. Any amount earned is withdrawable without a threshold.
We also host Challenges, with the first one being announced on July 15th. You can participate and compete for the total pot, which includes pre-set prizes like $1K USD in Bitcoin, hardware wallets, Bitcoin vouchers, and more. The challenges are completely winnable—there is no chance involved—you are guaranteed to win as long as you complete the milestones.
As more people join, the prize pool increases.
We are currently available only on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/workit-earn-bitcoin-fitness/id1570096202
Please give us a try and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
have you heard of Exerwin?
the developer took data from crossfit and many various competitions around the world, and after some statistical adjustments constructed graphs that correlate well across the age & gender - adjusted performance across a whole variety of exercises from bar hang, grip, and plank to snatches.
i recommend to read the description at https://exerwin.com/philosophy.pdf
i have been pushing the developer to work on integrating lightning like you did, but he lacks greater vision.

That's interesting, I will check it out! Thanks

Hey, that looks cool!
What self-custodial connector will you support? LNDhub, Nostr Wallet Connect?
Come over to one of our Community Calls!
reply
Hey! I think we discussed this in the past, but happy to chat about it in the future!
reply
Nice. How do you make money?
reply
We have users who use the app solely for fitness and are subscribed to our premium plans. Premium plans are also beneficial for earning Bitcoin, as the rewards increase and they can participate in 3 challenges simultaneously.
We also take a cut from hosting challenges.

Eager to test it, when Android version becomes available...
Just wondering how you'll deal with people trying to game the system... When there is money involved, it'll happen. Including here on SN...
reply
Yes, definitely. We have constraints set in challenges to ensure users can't game the system without effort. There are many ways to fully eradicate it, these methods often involve tracking user activity and collecting data, which we want to avoid completely.
The way things are built now, it works fine. We are working on a few small things that need addressing. So, I would say we will have to wait and see how people use it and then address the problems accordingly.

Do you think Apple is going to allow this app to remain in its app store?
reply
Doubt it, there already is an app that does almost the same thing called sMiles. Login with account, gather lots of data, show lots of ads, give out a fraction of it in sats. Simple formula.
reply
They(sMiles) pay you in shitcoin, not sats.
They are very unclear in their website but if you actually use, you will end up earning some shitcoin and they claim they will pay you in sats with some conversion rate, but it is full of hoops to jump.
Absolutely avoid if you don't want to waste your time.
reply
I have tried it and withdrawn sats via Lightning. So idk what you are talking about.
reply
They(sMiles) pay you in shitcoin, not sats.
You mean shats? :)
reply
There are some regulatory uncertainties that cause trouble. For example, we might be forced to remove the custodial implementation.
However, Workit positions itself as a game/health app. The keychain is just an aspect of the app, making it much more discreet than other apps on the market.
reply
How are you different from or similar to sMiles?
reply
There are many differences:
  1. Workit is a Lightning Keychain (wallet) like Wallet of Satoshi, Breez, Muun, Phoenix, etc. You can pay directly with Workit anywhere Lightning is accepted.
  2. Workit's earning potential is superior; you can double or triple your Bitcoin with our Challenges.
  3. There is no withdrawal threshold; you can withdraw any amount.
  4. There's a fitness part of our app where you can earn Bitcoin for completing workouts (this is only for premium users and hasn't been launched yet).

sMiles doesn't pay in sats to start with
reply
Are you sure about that? It looks like they are paying in sats judging from their website.
reply
You're right, I remembered it wrong, I thought it was Slices.
Here are a few of those apps, which include this one and the one I mixed it up with:
reply
You're right about Slices. They have an intermediate coin and cashing out does not always work.
reply
I've withdrawn sats from sMiles, so it sure seems like they pay in sats.
reply
Likewise. I stopped using it though as it somehow made me click 10s of times on the same screen until it somehow recorded I had done my daily steps. Not sure if it was a bug or by design to make me stay longer inside the app. Probably the latter, but then I'm not the right target audience.
reply
I think it was probably a bug, because that doesn't happen to me.
reply
you need 5K for withdrawals. Also, this app seems to be focused on fitness first.

Do you guys sell the data?
reply
No, we don't collect any data.
reply
Downloaded it a while ago, I'll need to check out the progress.
I've been using the Nike Run App......
A nostr integration would be cool, could show all the #runstr posts and share workout progress with the freaks.
reply
Thanks! We launched like a few days ago, so make sure to recreate your account if had the old version installed!
I agree with Nostr, we are looking into integrating it!
reply
So the business model is to get people to sign up, do exercises for 10 sats, and then some of them stay to pay the $10 monthly fee?
If the app is good, I guess it's fair enough.
reply
We want users to play challenges. The challenge model allows users to win substantial amount of Bitcoin every week. As more people join, the Bitcoin pot increases, so you can double or triple your Bitcoin

Wen Android?
reply
Try to get cashapp, strike or other bitcoin comapanies to advertise to increase the pools of rewards.
Alot of these apps people get on their phones, but end up uninstalling because they only pay out 10-100 sats over lifetime (not worth the squeeze to them).
I love this idea, and the fact that it is real bitcoin!
reply
Thank you! The unique aspect of Workit is that you can win a considerable amount of Bitcoin with challenges.
For example, you can double $50 in Bitcoin in just a week!
reply
Any way to integrate into a smart watch? I'm in Arizona so a lot of my activity isn't based on steps since it is like 120 degrees outside.
reply
Yes! We are working on a new type of reward that is unique to smartwatches.
reply
@7c8106a919 - I have an extra idea if you ever wanted to zoom - but it is a little bit more complicated
reply
Very cool. Can’t wait to check it out.

Thank you, let us know what you think!

I wanted to see if you could withdraw any amount and tried to withdraw 5 sats, but it failed to recognize my wallet address.

Android app available?
reply
Unfortunately, not yet, but we are working on the Android version.
reply
Let me know when you've got the android app available.
Also as other users have mentioned... NOSTR integration/sign up would be really really good.
reply
Best of luck with the apple app.
I'd love to earn bitcoin for the amount of exercise I do. 🤣🤣 I'm on 2 a day's at the moment. I'm knackered but we're still getting after it 💪
reply
Cannot create an account, "unknown error occurred"
reply
you should just allow people to use nosrt, I think all bitcoin companies need to stop asking to create new accounts and just use nostr
reply
Just enter at least 2 characters in the name/surname field, and it will work. We are working on making the registration skippable, so we are on it!
reply
Got it, wasn't quite obvious but I'm in. Always liked the idea of such fitness apps but it was always connected to some kind of tokens or shitcoins, nice to see it's done on lightning. Already got 5 sats balance =D
reply
Glad to hear it! The most fun part is the challenges, where you can double or triple your Bitcoin every week! We will announce our first challenge next week.
reply
Great! But to be honest app still feels a lot like beta stage, I get a lot of errors and have to restart the app often. Anyway, I wish you to fix all this and good luck on your journey!
reply
We have some speed problems, but we are working on them. Please let us know where you encounter errors so that we can fix them!
reply
I was trying to send 1 sat to test the wallet.
Tried using the QR code scanner for the address - cannot decode it Copy-pasted invoice info the the field - recognizes the invoice, but when I press send nothing happens
reply
Please specify the receiving amount in the receiving wallet. If you are sending 5 sats, create the invoice for 5 sats in your receiving wallet. This way it will work
Whatever username I try to create signing up with Apple id, shows unknown error - result, cant register.
I like it, the design is nice. How much can I earn a day? Is there a limit?
