Somehow, I feel that this bear market from February to August is eternal, while feel that I've been through the bear market from 2018 to 2021 in a second. Can anybody explain this physological dilema?

The number of Syllable of the last verse is more similar to the others :D
reply
I like Ken's version better tho which is weird if syllable count matters.
reply
Even when you say it out loud? Kens version also has 4 syllables in the last verse which is about half of second verse, which is nice. Especially for poetry or if its accentuation like in a rap punchline.
Another thing I like about Cars version is how
Next block, go, tick, tock tick
has alternating o and i sounds
reply
it’s catchier imho

Yeah, I find Car's last line hard to read/say

I’ll sing it in SNL tomorrow, it flows better

Personal blocks all day long, but I believe heavy handed content moderation has been one of the most destructive forces to social cohesion. It allows people to stay in safe spaces, so alternative views result in complete tribal/fear-based meltdown.
reply
I think SN wants to stay away from censoring.
Upvote the content you want to see more of and that alone by multiple people will result in the rest sitting at the bottom.
I wouldn't mind having a way to block / ignore certain users though so I don't see a polluted feed.

Do you think any of the thousands of people attending nazi rallies back in the day thought they were supporting good or evil?
reply
Like Trump supporters today, they were manipulated and brainwashed through years of propaganda and misinformation.
reply
Strong leaders appeal to disenfranchised people. What are you doing to help?
Its convenient to tell yourself they are brainwashed. Ironically, it means you don't have to use your own brain. I'd say when you get to a point mentally where you are judging many millions of people, you are quite literally one step away from putting them in camps yourself.
reply
Education is key. Educate people to think critically and not just accept brainless memes and slogans (MAGA) and the word of one man, but to think for yourself. To do proper research, based on experts in their field and not some random dude on the internet who thinks the earth is flat.
Trump has made a million confirmed lies, and people just gobble it all up. Poor public education funding is responsible for this. You can help by voting for better education.
It's not convenient, it has been researched academically. Understanding the psyche of the German people during the rise of Nazism, and how many could commit atrocious crimes without any second thought. That's a very painful truth for all of us. With enough structural propaganda (e.g. dehumanizing the other) and misinformation, we are capable of atrocious crimes.
The best remedy against this is to oppose "strong leaders" that sow hatred and division, and to instead believe in fundamental human rights and values. That's quite far from "putting people in camps", don't you think?
reply
I appreciate the thoughtful reply. I'm glad bitcoin provides us the opportunity to communicate. I think you are suggesting 100 million + people are so uneducated that they can't even think for themselves. Thats extremely condescending and I do believe on the dehumanizing spectrum. Frankly, funding public education is a very dull opinion. There are a million ways to enhance public critical thinking. So we just don't want the same things and therefor probably should not be governed in the same way.
reply
No need to put words in my mouth.
Makes perfect sense that you would find public education a dull topic.

What did he lie about

“We also got tax cuts, the largest tax cut and reform in the history of our country, by far.”
Repeated 296 times
This is Trump’s second favorite falsehood, and his remarks at his departure ceremony at Andrews Air Force base marks the 296th time he said it. Even before Trump’s tax cut was crafted, he promised it would be the biggest in U.S. history – bigger than Ronald Reagan’s 1981 tax cut. Reagan’s tax cut amounted to 2.9 percent of the gross domestic product and none of the proposals under consideration came close to that level. Yet Trump persisted in this fiction even when the tax cut was eventually crafted to be the equivalent of 0.9 percent of GDP, making it the eighth largest tax cut in 100 years.
This is one of them. Was he not lying here?
There's thousands of such claims that were proven to be incorrect. By measurable data. All you have to do is some research.
reply
What if he wasnt measuring the tax cuts by % GDP? Seems like a wierd way to measure a tax cut, besides the GDP is kinda volatile so again strange way to measure a tax cut. Also kinda interesting that u were quick to point out Trump supporters are somehow brainwashed and then u link this wierd fact check
reply
You seem to prove my point. Did you forget that you asked me when Trump lied? This is a factual example, but somehow you now try to shift it back to the brainwashing? I have the feeling you don't really have a counter argument but just jump from one thing to the other.
Tax cuts are measured by % of GDP. You can't invent new ways sorry..
Exactly.

Is it a good idea to have #hashtags in post and later sort or search using that, (just like twitter)?
reply
Worth discussing sure. I personally feel they draw you out of conversation and a good search function should find things regardless. Hashtags were a great invention but have a grafitti-esque quality to social posts. Better used in private applications IMO. This site is so clean and orderly and the conversation is excellent. New features are great but real success would be maintaining this level of quality with scale.
reply
I personally prefer chanels/subpages over tags/hashtags/flairs.
But there are definetely advantages to both!

I don't know, but this idea deserves to be discussed
