I occasionally post a link to an interesting post here to some crypto chat groups I am part of. Other than a few clicks, I think I only saw this once translated into a newly registered user (who doesn't seem to be active). Posting it in large Bitcoin Telegram groups feels like spam and most people there already know about SN.
What strategy is working (or not working) for you?
EDIT: I also used to include a link to this platform on my Focusmate profile, but have been reported and had to remove it, probably because some people get triggered by anything related to Bitcoin.
Try the sats loaded invite links. I created 5 with 1k sats each. I have used 4 of them so far.
reply
I did that too some times ago, but now I like to use only 1 link per invite and give them only to people I know not random internets. I think 1k sats is a good start for an invite.
reply
Yes 1K seems like enough to get them started but not too much that they just take the sats and go.
reply
I did use those at some point, but that was a long time ago at the beginnings of SN. Except for people cashing out the sats, I did not see further activity. I should reconsider this now that SN has matured a lot.

I've been cross-posting more of the posts I read and write to nostr and Minds. It does seem to have lead to an uptick in referrals.
reply
I haven't been following any specific strategy. I was never a big fan of referrals, as it felt like we were trying to profit off others. I'm unsure if the new updates changed that. Plus, I have this one referral who I have no idea about, and they haven't contributed anything šŸ¤  After the new updates, I earned 1000 sats within a week. I noticed that @saloon already earned over 30k.
We should get someone to create a brief explanation of how the referral system works. We can share this along with a link to one of our posts.

I've brought 26 stackers in last 6 months. How many have you brought to SN?
Most of my working stackers are through in person references and some others are through various other websites where I share my content.
reply
Very impressive. Great job. šŸ‘
reply
Thanks! You're one of those 26. So grateful that you're going stronger and stronger... I mean growing very fast here... Feeling very happy.

I am learning a lot from you guys. I am here only for learning about Bitcoin. SN is a great platform for learners.
reply
Wow that's most impressive. Have some sats

Amazing! @Coinsreporter has told me about SN as the most generous community ever. Now I can see it why ge told so!
Also, I shall always be grateful to him for he saved me from falling into a vicious trap of job for hardly nothing! He suggested me to do nano farming and writing on SN instead of working as a primary teacher for 2 or 3 dollars a day. I must say if I even engage ob SN for 2 or 3 hours I can easily earn 5 dollars everyday. Though I feel that SN is for learning as he also told me and farming for money for my daily expenses. It's been 4 or 5 months and I confess that after selling my first crop of Vegetables I've earned much more than working in a school while also learnt so much about Bitcoin and many other things.

Thanks! It's so generous of you!

I think I told you this before. My referrals are mainly from Publish0x, a site where bloggers get paid in ETH n OP. @Coinsreporter, @Cje95, and @Taft are my conquests šŸ˜†

I would like to suggest we be called partners in the revolution! Sounds much more snazzy!

Alrighty, partner!

Right, i forgot about that. You've got some active conquests there, good job.

You are too generous with your zap. Will pump it back to ~Science

What are we? Conquests!!! šŸ¤‘šŸ’° Tell me how many sats have you earned because of me today? I hope I'm able to buy you a drink not in a day but may be in a week!!

Indeed Iā€™m so glad you found your groove here

I shared SN in a discord community in which I'm relatively known and to which I knew SN themes were a good fit for. I got 4 new stackers from it. Two registered with my link, two others entered to SN directly. In any case, I shared it with them because I knew they where going to like it and with the exception of one, the other 3 are decently active, one of them pretty successfully. When I shared the link in another crypto community in which I'm less active, though small, none expressed interest (despite showing off my stake and all). So evidently the main driver is trust.

I have always used my strategy of commenting clearly and authentically on different sites.

I talked my friends by phone.
reply
To tell you the truth, I tell people about stacker news by phone. When I talk to my friends, I talk about this site, but I dont really give them a referral link.
reply
Not sure last time I talked to a friend by phone ;) But for sure, in-person recommendations are probably the best...
reply
Yeah, so it ends up being not a referral, but I feel I am not pushing something on them then. Its just more authentic.
