pull down to refresh

It seems he's doing this out of frustration with the bureaucracy and opaqueness of the FBI/USSS. More has been disclosed through back channels to former USSS agents turned podcasters than the agencies have disclosed to elected officials let alone the public.
He announced his investigation earlier today and this the preliminary report he mentioned releasing. This is like a citizen arrest which is a ridiculous place to be in.
There's a lot of mud in this water.
I heard an interesting story from one of those former USSS podcasters that made a lot of sense of the disparate facts I've encountered.
Basically, the shooter didn't know he could get up on the roof when he showed up. He started setting up on the ground where he could fire into the crowd, but noticed the cops approaching him and ducked behind that building to evade them. From there he noticed that he could use an AC system to climb onto the roof, which he did to evade the cops. Once he was up there, he realized he had a line of sight on Trump. The reason no one was on the roof then was that they didn't register that AC system as a way onto the roof.
Maybe some more details will come out that blow that story up, but it squared a lot of circles for me.

I heard that theory. It leaves the ladder purchase unexplained.
reply
They're now saying that there was no ladder at the scene and none of the footage of him wandering around has a ladder.
No ladder clears up how implausible it seemed that someone with a backpack, ladder, and range finder would just be allowed to wander around.
reply
I’ve heard that too. But why buy the ladder that morning?
reply
I don't think he had a particular plan.
I think he showed up prepared for several contingencies. That explains why he had a car full of explosives as well as a backpack full of body armor and hundreds of rounds, but then he ended up just taking a few shots on Trump.
reply
Its not like he has done asssassination attempts before.
reply
No, but the set of explanations changes if he wasn't solely planning on shooting from that roof.
reply
That is true. I heard there were two shooters? Have they verified that yet?
They have footage of him wandering around?
reply
Yeah, from like an hour before the shooting.
reply
That is very suspicious.... Walking around a building and looking up?
reply
Not specifically looking up at the building, just wandering around sort of aimlessly. You probably have to watch some of the coverage to understand why it looks so suspicious.
reply
I will have to watch it. Seems a bit weird he wasnt caught before it actually happened.
I thought the ladder was already attached to the roof. Part of the structure. So he didn’t turn up with it at all from what I understood?
reply
I had heard that, but I haven't seen any confirmation that there is such a ladder. That should be easy enough for them to confirm or deny.
reply
It would be interesting to see the reports. You think if trump wins he will release the reports?
reply
I don’t know. He didn’t release any of the stuff he said he would in his first term, so maybe not.
There is a lot that could be immediately cleared up by releasing information that they definitely have.
reply
Yeah, I am thinking along the same lines. At least they can show how much they screwed up.
reply
It would be better for public trust, but whoever’s at fault is going to try desperately to cover it up.
reply
You cant cover up something that everyone knows. It was an assassination attempt that didnt work out. Peoples heads are going to roll.
reply
You’d think

I wonder who messed up though? Local or the security that was supposed to be watching trump?

Where is this van?
On sunday - day after event - it was reported that they towed away white van. Neighbors saw police "jump away" from van when it was opened because they saw explosives.
Then the story comes out that he had a transmitter and that the explosives were in his car.
Where is the van?

Ron Johnson sounds like a fake name.

It sounds like a Will Ferrell character.

RonJon is a good nickname though.

It seems like that would immediately lead to "Surf Shop" being your nickname.

Nickname for a nickname. I like it.

On a second thought what do you think Trunp is going to do when he wins knowing the "establishment" doesn't want him in the oval office, Will he clean the alphabet house for good (he said he would but really didn't the first time around) or he will be another JFK while in the office...? I wish him well, but also kinda "worry" they tried once, they will try again.

Is an independent investigation even possible? Wouldn’t that be one person investigating who has no agenda?
reply
They are trying to go against the normal. I've not listened that secret services have ever been investigated in US!
reply
It's really heating up for secret service in the US! I don't think that there's ever been so much criticism for them lately.
reply
Yes!!! Independent investigations need to happen, of course the FBI/CIA won't find anything on the attempt, because there is a chance they were behind parts of it
reply
It shouldnt even come to this. A senator that doesnt trust the government, how low can the government go?
