I put little faith in Trump, but to characterize this as a loss for bitcoin ignores reality. The fact that democratic politicians are looking to change Elizabeth Warren's mind as a result of his stance is significant

That was my first reaction, too. Like Honey Badger, Bitcoin don't give a $^#!.

he would be able to go to a campaign rally on the same day to criticize Bitcoin
Is this theoretical or factual? I would like a link.

I didn't read that as claiming it happened, but saying it is something Trump would do. In fact, those are the words he used as you quoted.

That's fair. I wouldn't put it past Trump, but it would have been more persuasive to include an example.
reply
Of course, but I think the author assumes most would agree. I think he might have been correct ten years ago, but much less so now.

I'm almost certain this didn't happen (and as you know, I'm decidedly not a Trump fan).
His only rally that day was in St. Cloud, and the speech is online. I'm not going to sit through ninety minutes (or even ninety seconds) of him speaking, but searching the transcript, he only mentions btc briefly when talking about his day, noting that he went from talking to evangelicals to talking to bitcoiners, talking about how broadly his campaign was focusing.

The part I heard was typical self-involved DT.

Yeah, I think his sign-off at the btc conference ("have a good time with your Bitcoin and your crypto and everything else that you're playing with") summed up what he thinks of btc perfectly.
reply
Me too. It's not clear, but I think the author is implying that he has done this with other issues in the past. I'm not sure, though.

This is crazy to me. How did it lose? Governments and Blackrock are way late to the party. 19M coins have been mined and the people have front run them both.
Even if blackrock and the government got 50% of the coins the ledger is public. Transparency of our financial system goes up 1000 fold. Stop with the black pills already. Be more positive.

Trump and Bitcoin have always been part of the same whitehat operation, it's undeniable now, let the soycoiners seethe

The clown who wrote this article is completely lost as to what the point of Bitcoin has always been, as they were too busy virtue signaling to realize what Trump and Lummis just confirmed... the veil has been lifted
Trump and Bitcoin are both part of a multi-prong deconstruction the old guard holding onto power through fake money and fake elections
None of this is coincidental, it's 5th generation warfare

I don't trust politicians to do anything good for Bitcoin. I've just formed a clear view that Bitcoin and politics don't match. Trump has come to Nashville for votes, not for Bitcoin.

If something like Trump speaking at the largest bitcoin conference didn't happen this year it would have happened at some point in the future. Maybe a different guy but it was bound to happen. Just like the ETFs were bound to happen.
I swear some of the takes on this stuff show a serious lack of critical thinking. A narrow focus on one's own beliefs without considering the society we live in.
As bitcoin rises in market price it attracts more people. Most people are statists. Those that hold bitcoin have more wealth an with wealth comes influence. These things attract politicians. Politicians seek the support of those with power and money. We know we don't need the state or politicians but that will not stop what is happening.
See it for what it is. The new phase of bitcoin's slow takeover of everything. It isn't gonna be neat and clean and ideologically pure.
All that said. I'm not changing what I'm doing or what I believe but my head is not in the sand. Not gonna waste time being mad at statists for being what they are.

Most excellent point!

I hate Bitcoin Magazine for making it a political game at Nashville. I also dislike Trump for he is a fat mouth! He don't know and don't wanna know what he is dealing with, he just speaks and speaks! Bad choice, America!
reply
Yea I am glad it is getting attention and possibly some politicians to "jump" on board during an election year. Hopefully that will open some eyes. But am very skeptical on them doing it.
reply
Critical skepticism is the way!

If all it takes for bitcoin to lose is for demagogues to do what they we need to sell all our bitcoin for gold while we can.
reply
I don't see it that way. I don't say that I really liked or trusted what Trump said but I'd Take it as a glimpse of hope. The more these big politicians speak, in any terms, about Bitcoin, the bigger it will be!

Bitcoin didn't lose, it was just a meeting of people who didn't understand BTC and have been waiting forever for someone to rescue them, for someone to come along and help them and do the work for them. Tik tok next block... Trum = Honeypot , thank you Nashville, now we know who didn't understand bitcoin

Nope

To see the impact Bitcoin has had in the past 15 years is nothing short of astonishing! This is a win. History will tell you so!

I think I need to do a follow up to Bitcoin is a tradfi asset now and write a post Bitcoin is a political asset now.
Trump knows nothing about Bitcoin. That’s fairly evident. The speech was bad but I don’t think it was bad for Bitcoin.

Seeems like he wants to include anyone who will vote for him. He doesnt care how much $$% he has to kiss.

That's why I laugh when people say he's not a politician. He is now! 🤣🤣🤣
