Please tell me how Kamala Harris is socialist.
She for sure isn't deregulating anything or reducing the welfare state. But socialist? Sounds like inflationary use of words until they have lost all meaning.
reply
Have you looked at her record and her rhetoric?
If not socialist, what would you call it? Serious question
She spent most of her adult life in San Francisco, the most left wing city in a left wing state. She didn’t win her senate seat in 2016 by using moderate rhetoric.
She has disavowed all of her previous statements and positions on fracking to gun control to illegal immigration and we are supposed to believe her? If you believe the new Kamala you will believe anything
Does she support gun rights? No
Does she want to expand the Supreme Court? Yes
Does she support the green new deal? Yes
Does she support Medicare for all? Yes
reply
Is Kamala a socialist based on her record?
See my reply above
@zuspotirko says socialist policies are not evidence of socialism or socialist politicians

The best trick socialists mastered is to barf and yet be called a horse. Disregard anything a politician say, and focus only on what he does. If Kamala has been responsible for socialist measures, either directly or indirectly, then she's a socialist.
She for sure isn't deregulating anything or reducing the welfare state.
That's the text book definition of being a socialist @zuspotirko, there's no discussion there. You can freely state that you like socialism, but you can't barf and ask us to call you a horse.

That's a hell worse than I thought it was. She's jumping straight into communism. If she gets into office, all conditions are given for a civil war outbreak.

And yet some SN users insist she is not a socialist.
Reminds me of the hatred for Blockstream and TapRoot and Liquid, etc
But this is more serious and dangerous than hatred of TapRoot, etc
reply
This is wholly serious. Blockstream and Taproot are subjected to the free market at the end of the day, where the client is always right, for he can not subject others to his own taste. Governance being about coercion, those people that so lightly blandish their disregard, as a superior moral stance even, are sworn executors of freedom and peace. But they are not your problem now. They will not reverse, for the socialist mindset is all about the fatal conceit. Your problem is the youth, which is flexible and can re-adapt easily, yet still lack a mainstream social movement other that socialism. There's still no serious competition, we can see that from here. Elon aside, socialists are largely uncontested in the USA, and that's a factor that can make the problem last for generations to come.
reply
Very good analysis of USA especially the youth
The reason is the schools and universities are dominated by socialist teachers and staff
Conservative voices are censored and ostracized
And yet hope springs eternal: non mainstream social, cultural and political movements can be effective in stealth mode, underground resistance and dissidence
Excellent point about Elon: X is the most effective tool to combat socialist media lies
Trump has a large following on TikTok (second hand information as I don't use TikTok).
Among the youth, there is a gender divide: males are moving to conservatism, females continue to move radically left because of abortion
Socialists are a minority in USA but their influence is greater than conservatives because they control the institutions: Silicon Valley, television, Hollywood, entertainment, legacy media, K-12 education and academia, non profit organizations such as charities and taxpayer funded NGO, public sector unions and more. There are others that I cannot remember right now.
Socialists are also louder and have larger megophones which distorts their influence.
You can be strongly opposed to her policies and simultaneously acknowledge that she isn't socialist. Yes, you can both simultaneously.
No private enterprise will change hands into public ownership I can guarantee you that
reply
Only because conservatives in the Senate will block her socialist agenda
She co-sponsored Medicare for all. That is a proposal to eliminate private health insurance
No you can’t!
You cannot oppose her policies and defend her from the socialist label.
Kamala works for the enemy.
What’s next? Venezuela is not socialist. USSR was not socialist? Marx was not a socialist?
Kamala has X chromosomes but she is not a woman!

unfortunately, it is always very difficult to assess the impact of politics. i know this from the Ukraine war, where people are still running around here who seriously believe that they would win against Russia. it is unbelievable how much some people mill themselves into their own dream world

But she is a socialist… per her campaign commercial I just watched she claimed to have fought drug companies to cap prices on drugs. Government price controls are a pillar of socialism/communism.
reply
But she is not a socialist. After all a guy from Detroit said so

reply
You built a real strawman up there in your head buddy. That's really far fetched from her actual policies.
I will admit I was wrong if she nominates Sanders or AOC as her running mate. But until that day try to relax a little
reply
Her senate record was just as radical as Bernie.
In fact her voting record was deemed more radical than Bernie.
reply
Well she is from San Francisco. That in itself means. She isn't a right winger.
