An investigative journalist reported that the FBI issued a standard “Glomar response” to a request for information on Satoshi Nakamoto but with an “interesting assertion.“

Perhaps this is proof enough to quiet people that think the CIA invented bitcoin even if it wouldn't matter if they did.

One would hope but I doubt it.

So they do not confirm or deny they have any files on Satoshi.
They refer to him as a third party individual but that doesn't really mean anything.
I read this as basically no new information other than the FBI is refusing to provide any info. They may have no info. They may have info and are refusing to supply it.
Am I missing something?

FBI has nothing is my interpretation

That's seems highly probable. The FBI would not want to say that. Saying it this way they aren't lying but also give an impression that could be false. Classic FBI behavior.

bingo. no news here

I think they know who they (Satoshi's) are but there is no gain of disclosing any info because that would accelerate the BTC growth. What do you think they would say? "OK, citizens, we know who the group Satoshi is, but they are so good that there is nothing we can do to stop them." And the next day BTC will be $100K, there nothing good for the government to gain, quite opposite, they would admit that they are just "dead man walking". They won't say $hit, this is nothing burger, nothing will change.
