I am pleased that you ask me. Sorry but their documentation is more than enough, I do not think I have to write another one.
Alby have quite simple and straight forward documentation about setting up a hub that in fact is a full LN node, self-hosted. Watch the short video step by step.
I myself I just follow it and in less than 5 min I had the LDK node up and running. You can choose multiple LN backends not only LDK. Later I will test multiple backends with several accounts, just to see how is working.
Opening channels is really simple and straight forward with multiple good LSPs. You can choose private or public channels too.
I didn't used my old custodial wallet migration, I wanted to have a separate one. So I choose to create a new alby account with I got the authorization code. That code is just a formality to make a link with your private node to be able to be visible and get a getalby.com LN address. Later you can change it if you want a more private one.
On Umbrel and Start9 is super easy. Just few clicks.
Just one important mention: when you start the setup wizard, choose "advanced".
The "cloud" version is ONLY for users that do not have infrastructure (hardware) or are nomad users.
Then you can choose whatever backend you want and options.
Never saw such an easy setup a LN node. Indeed is still linked to Alby in some way, but they do not control your funds or transactions. You have 100% control of your node.
I will name this the replacement of Mutiny node.... seriouslly.

Yes is a random address but later you can change iif you want.
Important is that you choose the local self-custody node in advanced mode, not just follow the walk-through default setup.
When you click "advanced" you will see more options to choose which backend LN node you want to use. In case you already by mistake you went by default on cloud setup, in Linux you can delete the .cache/albyhub folder and start over.
Later if you want your own private domain as LN address, you can follow this guide.
