How's the buzz! The SN ~Music Pool is running hit numbers as loud as it can! Listen! The first update is out about how all the standings are and how's the pool going. Beat is that, this is for August, the main pool is gonna start from September 01. We've already started to fill in the Prize for the main pool as @Turdinthepunchbowl generously contributed 2000 Sats for September pool!
We've only dived in the August pool on August 22 so we can only get 1 update for the week so far. The Billboard Hot 100 only gets updated weekly on Tuesdays. The standings after the rank shuffle are —
- @TheMorningStar, @memeverse and @IamSINGLE have been striked out because either of their song number has disappeared from the Billboard Chart.
- @Turdinthepunchbowl has been exceptional with his pick of no. 67, that shoot up to no. 31 from 67 and gave him as many as 37 points. Congratulations! Here's the song— (I bet our old horses would love this song!)https://youtu.be/hlpJVsWhnls?si=nScIxuMZE_HrxqB8
- @Athena @grayruby @TNStacker @suraz and @Public_N_M_E are still in the fray of ~Music. But there's a huge huge difference now between all of you and @Turdinthepunchbowl.
- As the ~Music Pool Rules allow every stacker to edit and buy in, all of you (those who are striked out and those who are running behind) can still edit or buy in to have a better chance.

This beta (trial) pool is gonna run till next Tuesday when we get the next updated rank list on Billboard. The final results for this beta version will be out only on next Wednesday.
But, we gonna start main pool as scheduled from September 01. There shall be some tweaks with the rules are on their way, so stay all ears. Some of the things that I'm juggling around are —
- Should we have a joining amount? If yes, how much?
- How to ensure the maximum participation?
- How to get @siggy47, @Undisciplined @k00b and @ek on board? (This one's the biggest one 😜)

Count me in for the September pool. Are you gonna create a different pool for different languages or it's just English? I love Hindi and Latin songs more.

What are your suggestions regarding applying a joining fees for the ~Music pool?

It didn't appeal to me because I don't listen to music on the Bill100. I never felt like it represented the music I liked, more like how much money a record label can spend. So the game theory is off for me. I would do better by choosing an artist I know is really popular with a big record label than just choosing a song I liked.
Which brings me to my suggestion:
All that said, I can't make a better suggestion for a leaderboard that includes these points. The intersection for gambling and music is also very limited. I can only think of one situation.

I started with something similar you suggested #650068. But, it was just that I couldn't come up with better idea for daily engagement and also I thought it might be better to involve some gamification to the pool, I revamped the pool and applied Billboard.
Now, definitely after listening to your views/idea, I've got every clue what and how to do a ~Music Pool.
That's why, I took this August time as a grace period. I didn't go with the main pool. You can see I've been asking for suggestions in every post about it.
Here are a few things, I couldn't get though?
I thought more about the sats amount vs the zaps amount. I think you are right, the winner/s should be based on the quantity of zaps. 1sat one vote.
or a mixture of the zaps amount and sats amount. I do think the entry should be as low as possible tho.

I should have clarified better. Stacker News Battle of The Jams or SNBOTJ is a play on battle of the bands. Bands battle each other and the winner gets a prize. a jam is slang for a song. So stackers battle each other for the best song submission.
I would rather the winners be based on amount zapped. in the end that's all that matters.

~Music is a different beast. It's not a money maker at all. Trust me on that one, the territory doesn't come close to floating itself. Sports and gambling are quite synonymous, music and gambling much less so. The pool just like the territory is going to need to be something you do because you want it. I'm unsure fees on the pool will take off and I think they'd probably have a detrimental effect overall to the participation in the pool.

I agree on all your points. Let's see, where we get to with the Billboard Hot 100 related pool. Asz I've announced it, for September I'm gonna give it a go before deciding to alter or completely revamp it into something @dontforgetthekeys has suggested.
