32 teams 14 make the playoffs
Kansas City has won 2 straight super bowls but the most valuable team financially is Dallas
The players want less practice time. Blame the players and antitrust laws
Middle class teams? 32 teams split television revenue unlike baseball and basketball.
Dan Rooney said free agency would bankrupt teams and the league, 1987. His premise was that player salaries would grow at the expense of teams. The fallacy of zero sum. The focus should be on growing the pie. Jerry Jones understands this better than anyone.
Middle class as in chance to win the championship. Not from a revenue/valuation perspective
reply
There is more parity today than in previous years because of free agency, franchise tags and salary cap.
First year of free agency was 1993
reply
Hardly. The Free agency super teams all fail massively. Players benefit the most not teams. I can argue free agency stops teams from becoming completely dominant. All teams have holes.
reply
Therefore more parity
Instead of hollowing out the so called middle class teams, it does the opposite

How many teams have a chance to win the Super Bowl?
14 teams make the playoffs but only 7 or less have a realistic shot at winning the Super Bowl
reply
7 or fewer have chance to win Super Bowl
7 teams are playoff bound but not contenders
18 teams have zero chance to win a championship because they don’t make the playoffs
Playoffs? Jim Mora
reply
Even 7 might be a stretch.
reply
Name the 7.
reply
I have no idea except for the chiefs
I said 7 or fewer
7 or less

This could and likely will change over the course of the season but right now I am assuming another Chiefs vs 49ers super bowl.
  • Lions could definitely be contenders but they need to prove they didn't just get hot and ride a wave last year with all the enthusiasm around the city about the team. I still think their secondary is suspect and Campbell makes stupid calls at inopportune times because he wants to prove how big his balls are.
  • Ravens could definitely be contenders they were the best team in the league last regular season and they have Lamar, but they lost a couple pieces on D and they have a few new OLineman so we shall see.
  • Bills could definitely be contenders. They have Josh Allen and sometimes he is super man and wins games on his own but they have a lot of new pieces and the D is worse than last year in my opinion.
  • Texans could be a contender. I think their offense is good enough but not sure their young D can hold up against really good teams.
  • Eagles could be a contender. They have as many offensive weapons as the 49ers and brought in a couple new coordinators to give the team scheme a much needed refresh after last year's collapse. I still think their D is not very good even if they have Fangio as DC. And Hurts has tons of talent but tends to turnover the ball at inopportune times.
  • Cowboys could be a contender. If playoff games were played on paper.

When is the last time the same Super Bowl teams two straight years?
reply
30 years ago. Which just means we are due. Haha
A lot can change. I am just basing off what we know of the teams right now after last season, off season and week one.
If Mahomes tears his ACL Sunday the Chiefs aren't going back to the SB
