What Is This?

This is a recurring post inspired by discussions had by @Undisciplined, @elvismercury and others regarding evergreen content on SN. I’ll dig back into the past to try to locate some great posts that might be worth another read. I plan to release a new Golden Oldies every Tuesday.
Here are this week’s selections:
This discussion is as relevant today as it was a year and a half ago. Self custody is crucial to bitcoin, as is scaling and adoption. Regulation by prosecution in the U.S. has further complicated matters recently. The SN wallet changes that are coming soon will focus all of our attention on this topic.
I really enjoyed re-reading this post from more than two years ago. I use mempool space all the time to keep an eye on things, particularly when I’m looking to make an onchain transaction, open a lightning channel, do a submarine swap, etc. You can run it on your own node, or check it out on the web. It is also a great learning tool. Caveat- don’t be searching your own transactions on the web site without taking appropriate privacy precautions!
Comments and suggestions are welcome.

It feels so good to read about such experiments on top of Bitcoin such as 'Bitcoin Village'. It really is very inspirational. @BOLT11Village has done exceptional and incredible. Thanks @siggy47! Without this post , I'd never come accross this.

The issue of self-custody is super important and takes work. As easy as it is for wallets to improve the UX/UI, there is a large part of responsibility on the end user. We are adapted to the fact that in the traditional system it is the bank that is responsible for storing and safeguarding our funds, so we do not have to worry about it. With Bitcoin, it is not, and will not be like that, if you want to stay out of the system.

It seems like we've been talking a little bit more about custody lately. When I think about all that goes into key security, it's pretty obvious that most people are never going to self-custody, unless it becomes much more user-friendly.
