What Is This?

This is a recurring post inspired by discussions had by @Undisciplined, @elvismercury and others regarding evergreen content on SN. I’ll dig back into the past to try to locate some great posts that might be worth another read. I plan to release a new Golden Oldies every Tuesday.
Here are this week’s selections:
I couldn’t decide whether to include this great post by @plebpoet. I really liked it, and I think it raises an important issue, but it inspired some ugly back and forth in the comments that maybe prevented the discussion from being more productive. I’ll let the stackers decide.
This guide was compiled by @davidw when he started the privacy territory. It was, and is, fantastic. If you haven’t seen it before, I recommend that you take your time and poke around. Maybe someday @davidw will return with an update, along with more great posts like those he left us with.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.

haha I feel the same way about the post. I do regret not getting to my point for very well, but that was one of my first SN posts and I was just feeling the rush!!

The problem was that everyone jumped in with the man/woman thing, but your point was much broader and never got talked about, IMO.

I hadn't gotten too far into the comments when @plebpoet made that post. It sure escalated quickly.
reply
Yes it did.

Really good oldie!

Let's turn up the fun factor and make this post a poll where stackers can choose their ultimate 'golden oldie'. What do you think?
reply
It sounds good in theory. I don't know how it would work in practice. If each stacker who wants to participate nominates a post, we may wind up with too few or too many. If I select say, five, and ask stackers to narrow it down to two, everyone has to read all 5 to choose. I intentionally kept the number low so that people could easily read enough of each post to decide whether it was worth their time. Maybe there is a way? How would you do it?
reply
My idea was to have the stackers choose from your two options. It's a simple way to add a bit of fun to the mix 🤠
reply
Oh, I see. Maybe like a poll, with the two posts as options. That could be done in place of the current format. Let me think about it.

Superb post by @plebpoet! We all had it read in "The Day on SN", I think. It was also the top post of the day.
Anyways, I've just read it again, it's pleasure to read a girl's viewpoint on meetups. We don't get it often.
