It is easy to use. You decide for yourself about the privacy/convenience trade-off. For me, I had mostly stopped using Google products before I made the switch. I never used apple. You can use Google products if you want to, and you can "sandbox" those apps into its own user profile. I don't do that. I also don't use social media other than nostr, nor do I use banking apps or fintech apps like venmo. That's my preference. You can use whichever apps you like, but it seems pointless to me to go through the trouble of installing a more secure OS and then surrendering privacy anyway.

I dont use apple either. Their products really bother me. Especially as I watched people I know having to upgrade and buy the next model. It might be time for me to start making the switch. There are other apps you can use to go online and stuff, right?

Oh sure. Everything is available to you. You can download APKs of apps. I use either obtainium or @franzap's zap store so that my apps can be easily updated without me having to constantly check.

Obtainium is the shit. Learned about it on Jupiter Broadcasting's Linux Unplugged as one of their picks. Once you've got things situated it's dead simple to use and, effectively, you become your own curated app store.
