MLB Playoff Pick 'em Points Challenge
MLB Playoffs start with the Wild Card Round on Tuesday. Due to rainouts we won't know all the teams involved until Monday, so I decided to make the MLB Postseason contest a bit different this year. Rather than predicting your entire bracket before the playoffs start we will go round by round and use a point system based on round.
Here's how it will work. There are four rounds to the MLB Playoffs beginning with the Wild Card round, then Division Series then Championship Series and finally World Series. Each Round will be assigned a point value for predicting a series winner, and bonus point(s) for amount the amount games a series goes, correctly. Point system will work as follows:
Wild Card Round- 2 points for correctly predicting a series winner. 1 bonus point for correctly predicting the amount of games the series goes (You are only eligible for the bonus point if you first had the correct team). Total points available: 12 Division Series Round- 2 points for correctly predicting a series winner. 1 bonus point for correctly predicting the amount of games the series goes (You are only eligible for the bonus point if you first had the correct team). Total points available: 12 Championship Series Round- 4 points for correctly predicting a series winner. 2 bonus points for correctly predicting the amount of games the series goes (You are only eligible for the bonus point if you first had the correct team). Total points available: 12 World Series Round- 8 points for correctly predicting the series winner. 4 bonus points for correctly predicting the amount of games the series goes (You are only eligible for the bonus point if you first had the correct team). Total points available: 12
Before each round participants will need to make their picks for that round. We will likely have some short turnarounds making picks and possibly even a new round starting while series from a previous round are finishing. Stackers will be responsible to get their picks in prior to opening pitch of Game 1 of a series. If we are waiting on the result of one series while the next round is starting, make your picks for the next round and you can add to them once the previous round is completed.
The initial prize pool will start at 10k sats, Any sats zapped to related posts during the competition will be added to the pot (minus the 30% fee). When the contest is done the winner can decide if they want the prize paid by lightning invoice of if they feel generous and want it zapped to them.
If you are interested in joining please let me know by 6pm est on Monday Sept 30th. I will be posting the first round matchups as soon as the second game of the Mets vs Braves doubleheader is over Monday.
Hoping for an exciting MLB Playoff season and a great contest!

I'm in! My daughter was asking if we could watch "spaceball" before bed (her pronunciation of "baseball"). Maybe we'll actually watch some playoff action.
reply
Sounds like a smart kid. Spaceball sounds fun but possibly a bit frustrating. Might be hard to play in a vacuum.
Kids are the best. The Blue Jays best player is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. whose nickname is "Vladdy". When my daughter was younger she used to call him "Gladdy". "Yay Gladdy, Come on Gladdy"
And we used to laugh. Then I would ask her "who is your favourite player?" and she would pause and laugh and say "it's Gladdy".

I am in, just for fun.

No buy in so why not?
reply
Definitely, just checking MLB apps to get some knowledge!

Count me in! Thanks
