Just wanted to share this little subtlety in the stacker news notifications when you get zapped from someone who also has an attached wallet. It’s seamless and so awesome! Really excellent work by the SN team πŸŽ‰
Getting zapped has an amazing feeling attached to it. The system is awesome.
reply
Zapped is one thing. The move to supporting external wallets seamlessly is next level
reply
Indeed! Zapping is seamless. I just got zapped even before I finish replying the above post. Live is simple and easy with bitcoin. Indeed, fiat is slavery.

Which wallet are you using if you don't mind asking?
reply
I am using NWC for both sending and receiving, pointed at a hosted Alby Hub
reply
Oh good to know NWC works both ways now

With a private channel?
brave of you to reply before my edit timer ran out
reply
Yes, private channel between my hosted node and SN.
And yea, I’m rolling the dice 2x LOL

Which backend? πŸ‘€

Whatever Alby Cloud hosting spins up for you. According to the logs, it looks like they use LDK?

Those aren’t my zaps but it reminds me that I’m probably doxxing myself with my zap patterns.
reply
That’s what random is for haha
Edit: but yea, I’ve definitely learned some people’s patterns

I am still a "cowboy credits" maximalist. I will go further and propose a change in SN: make upvotes/downvotes only with cowboy credits and if the user want to send sats separately through a p2p payment that will be a separate thing.
I will repeat: will be too much friction with all these zaps back and forth between stackers. And people will realize later that I am right.

This will not age well
reply
every satoshi will count. And when people will see that for a 10 sats zap will have to pay 1 sat fee, they will think twice...

Yes and consider to open a private channel
reply
that doesn't help. And could create even a worst scenario: SN node could became a "watcher" of all these zaps. Adding more complexity in SN zaps will not make more people to self-custody. Some level of custody is OK.
reply
We already know who zaps who or who withdraws where.
reply
exactly. So why complicate things when could be simple with cowboy credits ? I could have much better privacy with cowboy credits than p2p zaps.

The non-custodial stuff is literally just an option. You can use cowboy credits if you want but I think most stackers would prefer to receive real sats.
However it goes, I still remain humble, stacking sats, and zapping seamlessly. Amen!

I resonate with this take, yeehaw 🀠
