What supports you when nothing does? Who do you turn to when the world turns away from you? How do you convince yourself that your work is important and valuable when no one around you seems to see it as such? For how long are you willing to keep faking it until you need external validation that you're making it? How do you overcome impostor syndrome?
This is a great question. I battle with this all the time. In general I do not feel understood in this world. Luckily I have my wife, my dogs and a few fellow stackers that see me from time to time. It has been very difficult for me to give up the need for validation. I am constantly looking to convince myself that it is not necessary. But it's still there.

When it seems like everything is against Hustle, he just digs deeper into work.
It helps.
Probably something to do with "Agape" "In the New Testament, agape refers to the covenant love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God; the term necessarily extends to the love of one's fellow human beings."
Doing what I can to support FOSS in helping humanity overcome the forces of evil is a big motivating factor. That and the occasional run.

I must confess that a few years ago when I had problems with my partner... I got to a point where I needed approval from someone else!! That person who would tell me that the decision or action I was taking was right!! But then after a night of reading a lot without sleeping I understood that what I do, my actions satisfy me... and drive me forward! I am a seller of cell phone items and every day on the streets of the busy capital of Peru you see depressed people... sad... and with their heads down... they have no drive or energy... and that is wrong... I say that if you can breathe and stand you can do it!!!! 💪💪

Yeah. I have had to learn this also. Most of my family and old friend group are in a whole different reality. Scared of everything. And j don't know how to get through to them. So I walked away and started making new friends. It's was rough getting though the transition.

I have always considered myself a self-challenging being, which is why I am always clear about my goals, projects, and decisions, which drives me and generates inexhaustible strength in me.
reply
That's a great strength. I am kind of the other way around. Super disorganized. Very unclear in a lot of ways. I like to say I am an improviser.

Nothing you can't fix with a lot of effort and dedication.

I surrender to the flow of nature.

It's not something that needs Fixing. I love the way I am. And I love the way you are. No right or wrong. I do big things when I am inspired. And I meditate a lot. I save my energy.

I need a gardener for Moto Mountain. i don't think it's my calling but I imagine it's great for feeling more connected to nature.
reply
Yes definitely connects with nature. Most commercial processed food is saturated with chemicals now. The regularity of the seasons and times when to plant and when to harvest various things over time builds a mental plan that connects yourself with the seasons and constant anticipation. Watering new seedlings or digging the kitchen scraps into the ground and seeing the worms convert them into rich soil, waiting for rain or sunshine or apricots to ripen. The simple magic of how seeds germinate and grow and the security of having food growing on your land. The exercise helps too...hard to feel down with the sun on your back while digging new seasons potatoes!

These are terrific questions, impostor syndrome is difficult so overcome if you don't force yourself to be objective in observing the world. I try to measure my performance through time and usually that helps me to be more objective. External validation is the worst thing to sake, even though we are very very prone to that.
