Calling all stackers!
Leave a comment below to let the SN community know what you're working on this week. It doesn't matter how big or small your project is, or how much progress you've made.
Just share what you're up to, and let the community know if you want any feedback or help.
  1. Migrating more content guides from my substack to my github page.
  2. End of the week I will be going back to my citadel place to finish some covering, preparing the site for the winter.. It was raining a lot all the September and I couldn't work too much at the construction site. I hope will not find too many damages.

Oooh.
I've been working on something too, Not a fiction writer either but have an interesting concept I'd like to follow.
You think I should post the stuff on SN after each writing session?
reply
Thanks for sharing. I think it depends on whether sharing your drafts will help you enjoy the struggle more. Peer feedback could help fend off the inertia as you have a motivating force to keep writing and posting. On the other hand, if you prize your independence of thought during the creation process, you may prefer to keep your writing to yourself because you don’t want to be swayed inadvertently by the opinions of others.
Mind divulging a bit more about your concept?
reply
I have a little bit more than this, I start going into her leaving work to go home and begin describing the city and environment she lives in.
I'm a super noob, and probably wont share drafts like this due to the embarrassment factor.
But its pretty interesting, I wanted to come out with three short stories, each sort of mirroring characters in the wizard of oz. The first will mirror dorothy, the second would be the scarecrow and the third would be the wizard. The scarecrow would be the story of the good guy who won but then became evil, and the wizard would be the bad guy who lost and became good. Dorothy (Aria) will probably be the death athlete that dies for what she believes in.
Was playing around with comic book and manga stuff, but the short story route might be initially easier to throw out there. I've been making beat tapes and would have beats and artwork accompanying the storys, release them individually, and then Probably re-write them for better cohesion as one big story.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading it. I think the protagonist’s interest in puzzles is intriguing. Indeed, why did she like it so much more than fiddling? It could be interesting if she used her passion in puzzles to set the fiddlers free or something.
Keep me updated!

With the next 500 words (probably next chapter) I've just given myself more explaining to do.
Need to focus on answering some of these questions, or else I'll end up with a lot of unxeplained dead ends.
why did she like it so much more than fiddling?
I was going to lean on, (Humans like puzzles, and get bored by trivial nonsense)
Keep me updated!
Will do, And thanks for the feedback

Something like the fountainhead meets the wizard of oz meets satoshi discovering bitcoin, meets mission impossible.

  • Aria is a fiddler working at the tinkery, there are fiddlers draggers and masters. Aria is a terrible fiddler who is constantly hounded by the draggers for being distracted
  • Aria finds solace in her puzzles, using her intricate work as an escape from the brutal world around her, where the common folk welcome and celebrate cannibalism among other craven acts.
  • History has been erased, the Idea of History has been erased, everyone lives for the present, and as long as they fiddle with nonsense they get life energy.
  • Aria fiddles for scraps until she receives a call to action and begins her journey to unravel the secrets of her world, creating a clock to bring back the concept of time and history.

  • In the dark, soot-filled lower districts of ATOD, the clanking sound of gears and the steady hum of machinery is the city's lifeblood.
  • Aria is alone. The sky is beautiful, clear and unobstructed. It was almost past 2 and she was sitting on the roof of an abondoned building working through an apple and crossword puzzle. Unfazed by the clanking of metals shouts and general bussyness of the city she new her reprieve would not last long. Soon the draggers would come and force her into more mindless fiddling.
  • "Fiddler 78?" said a husky voice from below, "Aria?" Aria recognized the voice as John Dagarty, an unusually patient dragger (probably due to his lack of experience). Yes Dragger 209? "Oh come on Aria, we've been through this, you know your to report back to the job after you've eaten lunch, and on top of that - the voiced of john climbed up the latter as his delapidated form came into being from over the ladder" And on top of that "Why do you always come to such abandoned places? Do you really hate everyone that much, come on Aria"
  • Without taking her eyes off of the puzzle nestled in her lap aria responded "Yes Dragger, I hate everyone that much. But don't worry I'll be back down in a minute after I'm finished with my puzzle"
  • John with an insight aria didnt think he possesed spoke strange, unsettling words, "Why do you like puzzles so much?" Aria froze, "I mean, I see you working on these puzzles everyday with more focus than you put into your fiddling? What on earth do those puzzles give you that you cant get from fiddling" Aria ,still frozen, felt an urge to run, an urge to hit something to make something hurt, to be a victor and not a victim of the situation, for control. Taking her eyes from the puzzle she looked square at john, then raised her chin into the sky stared into the white and pink clouds draped across the orange hew of the sky. I think its my reason for being alive john.
  • Aria climbed down from the top of the building with her finished puzzle in a backpack. "Hi would you like some meat?" Oh no "responded Aria but thanks for asking. Fiddler meat was becoming popular again. Your loss said fiddler 62. Aria scurreied through the rambounxios city, in a flurry that one might have confused for urgency. Where aria was goin, urgency was a crime similar to sin. The beuro really wanted to make sure the fiddlers didnt fiddle with agency or goal setting. Why would there be any point in rushing.
  • Upon arriving to her fiddle station dragger 54 approached her "Oh look who decided to come back to work......hahahaha, alright its no problem, said the dragger with a smile and familiar leniency" Now we've got some easy work for you, "Thanks 54, what are we working on today?" The dragger faced contorted as though aria had just insulted his mother. "Its a joke Derek, Give me the pegs" Releived, the dragger returned with a box removed a lock from around his neck, and opened the box on aria's desk. Aria then proceeded to remove the hole block and pegs from the box. Aria took the round peg, and put it into the round hole. "Perfect" said the dragger with a smile that concealed triumph and success. He then left aria to finish her assignments. Aria sat back in her chair grabbed another round peg looked around and dropped it in the square hole. She turns and looks around again, nothing.

My wife is our of town for 2 weeks. Which is not something that happens often for me. When I am alone, I tend to go into bad habits. So my work is about staying more balanced for myself.. without someone else helping me remain accountable.

Just finished migrating my postgres containers to 17 (or 16 for Nextcloud) over the weekend. Next up is seeing if I can get some model running in ollama-webui that can utilize my Arc card. I doubt any will, but it will be worth the effort IMO to give it a shot.
I also plan on building out some sort of Meshtastic deployment in the neat future. Likely, an indoor base ststion for me, one for my parents, and handsets for both families. Depending on how that goes I'll build out more for other local locations where family is located. Ideally all of them will be MQTT connected as a backup/enhancement for the LoRa comms.

Hi, I've been into Bitcoin for a short time and this week I hope to finish collecting information on a fairly dense topic and be able to make a post here on SN.

This week I've been reading about a lot of things. Bitcoin, fables, walking to work and whenever I see something I like I try to capture it in photos and then share it on this wonderful site. I'm learning how to do reviews, especially of books about Bitcoin, as @siggy47 suggested. Something else I've been doing is looking around among local merchants who is willing to accept Bitcoin as a form of payment and try to start developing a circular economy. I'd like to learn how to have an Uncle Jim node to help others, but well that's another matter.
This has been my week.

On August 12 I've made a post I want to learn coding. From where and how should I start?. I've already begun with @dontforgetthekeys's suggestion #645021 to start with https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn. I aim to complete at least basics of HTML and CSS.
