These days there is lots of talk in "high places" about mis, dis and mal-information and about the necessity for censoring these dangerous types of speech and text. This strategy of course implies mass surveillance.

What are some examples of statements that were labeled as "dangerous misinformation" that later turned out to be true? Can you think of any? Can you think of any particular people who were censored because they were deemed by governments and associated organizations to be domestic information terrorists / spreaders of dangerous misinformation; but who were later largely vindicated? Can you think of any examples of this?

Who in your view are the biggest spreaders, or the most consequential spreaders of minsinformation? Can you give some examples?
