What is “active”? Some folks just leave the tab open permanently, are they active?
That's what I was getting at. It would probably just be something like whether the person did anything in the past 10 minutes.
reply
Yes, there are also the “mouse jugglers” that people use at work to leave the impression of activity. It seems to work, until they get caught at it and fired.
reply
I don't think SN is that invasively monitoring our activity. You'd have to do a SN thing like zapping, posting, or clicking on a link.
reply
I’m glad the SN doesn’t monitor too closely. That would make it an appurtenance of Big Brother. Then I would not be here at all.
reply
k00b is very driven to have SN record as little information about us as possible.
reply
That’s good. Does @k0b have any connections elsewhere?
reply
You may want to leave it open for a little bit more time. Some of the articles are a long read. If it takes 15 minutes to read and article and decide it is worth posting, you would be off the ticker. Howeever, what there is now seems to be working fine.
reply
Good point. Some sort of short timeline that gives enough time to read, but still boosts visibility.
reply
How much do you need to boost visibility? It seems to me, either people are on the board or not. You can determine who you are interested in posting or commenting to by looking at the recency data.
reply
Zaps push things higher up on the Hot and Top feeds. The Hot feed is personalized to you, based on your Web of Trust (i.e. Stackers like you already zapped it).
reply
Ohhh……….. Indiscriminate zapping has a really strong result, then. You see all sorts of kaka you may not want to see in your personalized hot feed. I guess @DarthCoin has the argument of the day, I just didn’t realize the extent that it affected me!
reply
Through several mechanisms you should be thinking that zapping stuff will result in seeing more of it.
reply
I would say that I am not anxious to see kaka. There is enough of it in the world already. Some of the articles I post, I post to demonstrate what kind of kaka people have in their heads. Their thinking is usually disastrous.
