There are already many open issues on SN backlog1. Without seeing what is already there, what features or functionalities you'd like to see implemented on SN? What are you missing from other platforms you used in the past?
Territory Analytics: I want to know more about what happens in any given territory with charts and data. Visitors, posts, comments, zaps, and a lot of other data all visualized in a nice clean chart. Something like "Top territories by post but all of the data in a chart instead of just the home feed filters: https://stacker.news/top/territories/forever
Boost Analytics: Impressions, click throughs, etc. How much value is someone actually getting when they boost if they don't get analytics.
Territory "Pay To Comment" fee minimum should be set by territory founder. I think 1 sat is too low.
Paywall Each Username: As a territory founder, I want to be able to paywall specific users instead of outlawing them. I want to paywall them out of my territory so they can always post but they have to pay more than others so I can benefit from being attacked by their spam or low-quality posts.
For example: If Alice acts well but Bob is a spammer, I want to be able to keep Alice post fee as the default but increase Bob's pay to post fee to deter his spammy posts. If he continues to spam, I keep raising fees until it's too expensive for him to post and now I was paid to defend my territory.
Make it easy to cross post both manually as well as seamless.
Sub-Territories: Sub-territories are going to be much more important as soon as we can cross post. When I share a bitcoin movie, I want to be able to share it in ~bitcoin and ~movies and pay both posting fees.
Pay to post fee set manually in each sub-territory.
Yeah, I think so too but the sub territory needs its own pay to post feature. The parent territory p2p feed may need to be the minimum for all the subs or something. Might need to be whichever is higher between the 2.
Imagine selling a sub-territory and they do nothing but spam and now your territory is tainted with garbage posts and you have no way out.
Right, so I guess one question is, are we giving them a piece of our land (more territory autonomy) or are we letting them build a building on our land (maybe the can only rent, and have less control.)
I like where your head's at. I don't like the idea of rent seeking on a bitcoin standard. I like the idea of ownership but not sure how it can work with a sub-territory.
I think I want to be able to sell/donate a sub-territory and give as much autonomy as possible but still need to prevent spam in my territory. I think a minimum p2p in conjuncture with existing spam filters should work.
For me personally, was the gallery view for posts that containing multiple images (recently implemented) like the Meme Monday, it's now much easier to see them all, instead of zooming and scrolling.
I can't answer this question. Otherwise ek will say again that I am trolling SN.
I don't know why bother anymore to comment on SN. Oh sorry , I mean trolling.
So... whatever will be, will be. Que sera, sera.
I'm still heavily missing a feature to be able to mark posts and notifications as read, without having to actually enter. Sometimes the title is all you need/want to know, respect to the posts feed. And while the current notification bracket feature is helpful, it disappears for all messages if you accidentally click on one instead of opening it in a new window.
Just "mark as read". That will be all to make SN perfect.
a 'Remind me in n Blocks' timer feature for cyclical doubts and confirmation of market action and future scam pump rug pulls.
Maybe some kind of louder/more visible notification for messages, replies than the current red dot. It should be a little more prominent, maybe orange.
Not sure how possible those things would be, just like the easter egg things on holiday festivals. Thought it could be more regular, design enhancements.
It does work. I was just voicing a preference, I noticed browsers asking for permissions for notification centre. I generally leave that switched off on all devices, phone, desktop, laptop, set to do not disturb. Occassionally, I'd go to the notification center and see a whole bunch of stuff that's there, but I muted.
Was just thinking more in terms of design aesthetics, and maybe functunality. When I withdraw sats, or someone replies, or possibly I got a cowboy hat or something, I wouldn't know what the notification is, without c,licking on the bell.
Have a "highlight reel" tab on profile. Didn't X provide this feature to premium users a while ago?
I think it's a great feature.
I'd like people to be able to see a list of the substantive posts I've made with the shorter and more insignificant posts filtered out.
(let the account owner do the filtering. perhaps have a post or comment not appear in this list as a default but when the user does a write-up or some writes some thoughtful comment he can toggle something or somehow mark it for inclusion in the highlight reel section)
Right now I can go see the past posts of an account but there will be lots of noise.
I'd use the tab and populate it with more ever-green and self-explanatory comments of mine that stand on their own.
When people go over my history they'll have to sift through lots of stuff that is likely a waste of time to them (and to myself quite frankly lots of the stuff) and they may bail before getting to posts that might have actually been worth their time and been useful to them.
When visiting a profile I'd like to be able to get to know the entity behind it more efficiently than I can now. A good way to achieve this would be to have this kind of tab I speak of.
The profile description could be used to list these but I think having a separate tab for a curated / filtered list of comments would be better.
Also always welcome in my book: more fine-grained and more flexible search and sort options.
Features that enable more flexible kinds of interlinked and nested posts.
I'd like for long-time SN users to be able to offer lists of various kinds.
E.g. a kind of guided tour through some posts they found valuable, interesting, funny etc.
It would be nice if people could construct interesting trails if you like through the landscape of SN or through the internet more generally.
Honestly I haven't really looked into whether sufficient functionality of this "meta" kind already exists but I do know the problem of curation / selection of information is important and will likely only get more important as the store of data keeps growing.
Maybe the current feature-set already more than enables these kind of curation-oriented posts.
If I find a person who it seems to me might have good judgement I'd like to be able to see what kind of pathways through information space they would recommend.
Not sure what kind of features would be needed to be able to construct a post that is maximally useful in terms of offering curated info-lists of various kinds / useful trails through information-space.
Was thinking a little more just now and somethings more specific came to mind.
Is there already the possibility to construct a collapsible nested post?
E.g. a person could write on a high level of abstraction and offer more fine-grained descriptions, definitions of terms, additional context etc. in an area that is initially collapsed but which the reader can choose to show.
It would also be nice if a post could grow organically in this way.
E.g. when an author notices area's where there seems to occur frequent misunderstanding he can add these collapsible blocks.
Or when he comes across or thinks of some great example or illustration or otherwise relevant material he can add that as a collapsible block.
It would also be cool if authors could construct their own category systems or tag systems to be used to label various kinds of blocks. E.g. I could label a block as "example", "illustration", "potential counter-example", "relevant quote", "relevant meme", "would-be falsification of the idea", "definition", or whatever else.
All of this could be done in an append-only manner. I like the fact that the past cannot be changed. But I would like more ways to add more context to existing posts. It seems to me that could be done in a way (e.g. with timestamps and maybe hash-trees) that leaves no confusion about what is new and what is old.
I wish there was a way to sort comments by 'recent flat', showing the newest comments at the top without threads. When you see an older post having new comments (the blue square), clicking on comments, you have to manually scroll through all parts to spot the new comments (and the slim blue border is way too subtle for me).
Oh, and also a section where we can crowdsource documentation and outreach to recruit new users, perhaps a closed section? A space to work on that would be great :-)

Blocks **, it will be interesting to integrate another timescale and be comfortable using it.
