@k00b shared his slide deck for his Hive Mind VC retreat. It’s very cool he shares with us and I don’t take it for granted!
I’m not sold on the immortal communities tagline. Maybe it’s just me, but it makes me think of zombie territories. Ones where ppl paid the 3M sats to have in perpetuity, but still they go abandoned and persist as a shell of their former self. I think the risk of death or dying could help keep a territory thriving. @DesertDave ~alter_native might be stronger after its near-life experience! Like Game of Thrones Theon it’s risen harder and stronger!
Some choice comments:
I cannot believe you listened to @DarthCoin words and put “pay to post” instead of “value 4 value”, even if it’s true!🤮
I am DYING to find time on paternity leave to find this in the GitHub algo for how it develops this unforgeable information to determine the web of trust of relationships. Who is in my web!? Is it @Undisciplined? Please say I trust him. I hope it doesn’t say I trust @Golu@Coinsreporter forever! Is @IamSINGLE also from India?
This is the most accurate picture of ~BooksAndArticles founder @siggy47 and ~Stacker_Sports founder @grayruby I’ve ever seen! I’ll let u figure out which is the Canadian and which is the former U.S. lawyer.
This one I’m still not sure is totally the right mindset. I guess @k00b is still stuck thinking SN is central to him. I know you founded the biggest territories of Bitcoin, meta, tech, etc. And you do make boosts for sure. Do any jobs ever get posted on here besides @k00b trying to get another dev? I know you started the @sn bot to setup Meme Monday style things, but I do feel like maybe we got enough content creators now that it is decentralized already in a content sense!
I’m more focused on how to decentralize SN in a hosting it sense.
So yea rather than strive to make it immortal, let’s Make SN Mortal Again. It’s the risk of death or crappy posts/content that keeps it alive and fresh! Was this post bad? Will it help me make it to the top of @k00b’s weekly ~Meta newsletter? Something I’ve done every week since I joined the site? Idk. But I’m having fun!
Zap me like Bitcoin just hit $100,000 USD, but you still think 1 sat = 1 sat ⚡️
"Pay to post" isn't just a Darth thing. That's why SN isn't overrun with spam and bots. I also think it's why SN isn't overrun with repetitive partisan talking points, like other sites.
The killer innovation of SN is a rewards system that incentivizes V4V on a pay to post platform.

Yes, I am only the one that started the meme 😂😂😂

My next meme is going to be a Ron Swanson Pay2Post gif I'm working on, should be a good one.

Immortality for SN is a bold goal. I respect it and I think VCs will too. But I understand what you are getting at about not making SN a wasteland of the living dead.
reply
“You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
Only the strongest territories should survive!

I have been totally wrong about territories. A couple months after territories launched we had somewhere around 40 territories and I predicted we would be down to 12 by end of 2024. WRONG.
Territory founders conviction much stronger than I expected. Many bought outright which never made sense to me without some agreement in place with SN. I have always looked at territories as akin to real world franchises.
reply
Yea I mean there’s no contracts. SN can go out of business. The price structure could change. Etc.
I think tho it’s fun to feel like you “own” a corner of the internet. I think that’s @siggy47 and @DesertDave feeling.
It’s not like you’re starting a free public service like a subreddit and you’re a moderator out of your own generosity.
You got skin in the game. You’re paid! You have monetary incentive to make that newsletter and garner influence. It’s cool!
Elon is paying the best Twitter users. YouTube too. Why not SN? Except more ownership 💪

It seems like a huge opportunity to me. If I had more sats around I would found many more. Once I have it, I can leave it alone. Of course I am the guy who traded 2 full Bitcoin for miners and solar panels to make back that same Bitcoin maybe never.... And I don't like contacts. I trust humans over paper any day. Faith can go a long way. Be bold and brave and the world opens up. Give it all away and it all comes back 10x

You’re right. It’s the human connections made that have the most value!

I agree. I feel like I get to have a platform here. Sure it's not many people yet. But I see where it is headed. You and I are early. So we get here early, set up our soap box and wait patiently. They are coming.

That is not news... SN was always from the beginning a "pay to post" but you weren't here from the start.... Only that the slogan wasn't used too much, to no scary noobs.
reply
Definitely that’s the FIRST thing @tim_niemeyer_ said!
Took me sending him reassurances in DMs to say no no it’s ok… look, you’ve gotta meet @DarthCoin.
reply
You should not use me as a "scarecrow" on SN... I am not here to scare new people, I am here to make them THINK.

But thinking for myself is scary!😅
