When I first heard this song a few years back, it had a deep emotional impact on me. I really love the tone of the guitar, how it fits the mood if this epic song. I love the surprises in note choice, gives me chills.

always liked whichever Beatle played this - the backward phrasing and the way it fits into the mix, and for it's brevity -

Wow. I sometimes forget how amazing the Beatles are..

Maggot Brain, the entire 10 minutes. First heard when I was stoned in high school and it always brings me back to a time with less responsibility and more joy...even though the song has more sad tones about the loss of a mother.

then i saw this bored-looking teenage girl playing it very well:

in retrospect, i think i bought an electric guitar because of this song. the finger training for a song like this is pretty intense, i would do drills for an hour every night around midnight. there are many hurdles to overcome, patience and dedication is paramount.

perhaps i'll get to that project again eventually, so i can learn to play freebird and thru fire & flames.

There are many songs but I've been listening to this daily at least 15 minutes at a low volume while meditating.

This song is Julian's magnum opus, I love seeing fellow voidz fans in the wild. If I had to pick a favorite guitar solo it would either be this one or the one earlier in the song. Though theres lots of great ones in these comments

I'm glad there is another fan here. This song is so beautiful. Julian is incredibly creative.

At around 2:48. I feel like this started it all, and it was improvised and live.

Blackmore was always trying to cram another solo in the song... I think it's half the reason Dio and him split 😂

But when it worked it was a wild ride.

It's not really a solo but ...

Carlos do Carmo wasn't just a fado singer; he was the voice of Portugal. The Portuguese guitar, with its haunting and passionate sound, was his constant companion. The combination of his unforgettable voice and the guitar's distinctive sound created a powerful and emotional experience that could take you straight to the heart of Lisbon. Together, they left a lasting musical legacy, carrying on the tradition of fado and touching the hearts of listeners everywhere. Enjoy!

Here’s one that’s hiding in plane sight. This has to be one of the weirdest, quirkiest guitar solos in a pop tune. Trevor Rabin for my vote.
