Rikers is a very depressing place, and I always got to go home at night.
reply
What does this mean....you live there? OMG
reply
Only prisoners live there. I was a criminal defense lawyer, and I used to have conferences with my clients who were inmates there.
reply
Conferences by phone or video chat? You must have seen and heard a lot working with them.
reply
No, live in person meetings inside the prison. Visiting Rikers was an all day thing. It's tough to drive there. It took hours to get through security.
reply
That sounds like a waste of time. I know at courthouses they have special lanes for lawyers. While everyone else has to take off their shoes and get their bags scanned.
reply
Yes, but not in jails. They don't trust defense lawyers.
reply
Oh, interesting. I didnt know that. Did you always have to fly to ny just to meet your clients?
