The point of reading a book is to have a thought process without distractions. Not listening to a book. Not watching based on a book. Reading a book. With my Kindle I like that I can tap a word and get the definition. With a regular book I will have a dictionary nearby. You will be encouraged to look up subjects and explore.
Bitcoin encouraged me to read more and the 2020 nonsense reinforced that as well.
I understand some people have been told that they have ADD, ADHD or Dyslexia but I don't believe in this religion of diagnosis that is really just snapshot observations.
I was considered retarded and slow early in my education. I was in remedial programs. Now my professor and doctor friends ask me questions because I've read more than them.
I also in my early construction career finishing concrete would bring books in my lunch box. While the concrete would cure and all tasks of preparation were completed I read in between the hustle.
Now I make myself read.
Reading fast is good and reading slow is good. I learned to read by staring at the page and thinking, "there is power here."
Anyway, Try to read a small book. Look at how many pages there are. Break it down to sections. Set a goal.
I was in Jail for 100 days. I got a Bible brought to me. I said I'll read this whole thing. I counted the pages. I broke it down in sections. I read the whole thing before I was released. Sometimes it's good to not understand everything right away. The mind is very powerful.
In the Army I learned to be a good student by getting a stack of technical books skimming, scanning and then ploughing through.
I hope you listen to Mom and read the book, too.
