Everybody's Free (To Wear sunscreen) Baz Luhrmann - Classic 90's music
Just look at the meaningful lyrics
Don't worry about the future Or worry, but know that worrying Is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing Bubble gum The real troubles in your life Are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind The kind that blindsides you at 4 p.m. on some idle Tuesday Do one thing every day that scares you

What an amazingly crafted lyrical beauty! It's amazing to note how words transcend the truth and make us easy when stringed along with deft music!

John Lennon - Imagine

This is an awesome song lyrically. Who says it's only music that makes a song great. The lyrics can do the same job if pinned so fabulously.

So simple and elegant. Classic.

Cleanin' Out My Closet - Eminem

Whether or not you like his style, it's hard to deny that he can really lay out a story!
reply
Amazing lyrics on this one! Are the lyrics your primary choice for liking this song?
reply
On this one, yes. I do like the choice of beats as well, but there are a lot of his songs where the lyrics are the main reason I listen.
reply
This song helped me deal with a lot of feelings I have had. Eminem is a great poetry for me when I feel angry.
reply
You know, it's good that someone was willing to say it. Not everyone deserves to be alive.
reply
Correct. I love it.

There are so many great songs to pic from. And I only listen to music that I love the lyrics as well as the rest. But this popped into my head when I read the question so I am going with Nine Inch Nails - "Right Where it Belongs".
See the animal in his cage that you built Are you sure what side you're on? Better not look him too closely in the eye Are you sure what side of the glass you are on? See the safety of the life you have built Everything where it belongs Feel the hollowness inside of your heart And it's all... right where it belongs
What if everything around you Isn't quite as it seems? What if all the world you think you know Is an elaborate dream? And if you look at your reflection Is it all you want it to be? What if you could look right through the cracks? Would you find yourself, find yourself afraid to see?
What if all the world's inside of your head Just creations of your own? Your devils and your gods, all the living and the dead And you're really all alone? You can live in this illusion You can choose to believe You keep looking but you can't find the woods While you're hiding in the trees
What if everything around you Isn't quite as it seems? What if all the world you used to know Is an elaborate dream? And if you look at your reflection Is that all you want it to be? What if you could look right through the cracks? Would you find yourself, find yourself afraid to see?

I'll just go with this since really trying to narrow it down is too daunting a task.

For me, these lyrics are a call for freedom and self-knowledge, and reflect the need to move away from what is familiar to find oneself. The repetition of the verse 'Let me go, I need to walk' resonates like a mantra of someone looking for space to breathe and rediscover themselves, suggesting that the path to understanding one's own essence passes through experiencing the world around one.

The question is, which Christmas song has the best lyrics? Or can it be any song?
reply
Any song.
