What Is This?

This is a recurring post inspired by discussions had by @Undisciplined, @elvismercury and others regarding evergreen content on SN. I’ll dig back into the past to try to locate some great posts that might be worth another read. I plan to release a new Golden Oldies every Tuesday.
Here are this week’s selections:
@Monotone’s inspiring story is worth reading in its entirety. That’s why I picked the middle entry, which contains links to the beginning and end of his saga. If you’re intrigued, read all three.
These posts should be kept by your side to show to the next person who says to you: “Bitcoin has no use case.”
@CarlBMenger always has good content, and I like to read reports from parts of the world that are just discovering and adopting bitcoin. This post is almost two years old, so there is a chance that much of the informaton is now inaccurate. Maybe reading this will inspire somebody to give us all an update on the bitcoin community in Guatemala.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Siggy, I have a question for you. What do you consider an OG bitcoiner?
reply
I thought about this yesterday when you started talking about it. I always thought if you were around to get caught up in the MtGox collapse, you were OG. As the years go by, I'm starting to put guys like @grayruby in that category, who first bought around 2016. I remember the Fall /Winter 2017 media hype. If you got in before that, I count you as an OG.
reply
I consider OGs to be people around since 2013 or earlier.
I think eventually OGs will be considered anyone who go into bitcoin in the first decade.
reply
Someone once told me that as people age, they readjust the age at which they consider a person old. The rough guide is your age plus 15 years. This OG subjective designation reminds me of that.
reply
I think that’s roughly right on both accounts.
reply
That is something I can believe. I dont find anything wrong with the term OG, its just that it can lead to confusion when used. Especially...is an OG a person who used bitcoin but didnt keep any? Because there were a lot of those. Is an OG a person who hodl throughout at least one bitcoin bear market? There is a lot to consider when using this term.
reply
When everyone uses the term OG, I was expecting from 2009 to 2012 era. The people that got caught in MtGox were forced to hodl. lol

Hey, didn't expect to be here. It's been a while since then.
Now I am in Vietnam, although I had planned to go to El Salvador. Don't ask me how it happened, but here in Vietnam I managed to convince the owner of the apartment to accept sats.
And it was already easier than in Georgia) I got the hang of it, so to speak).

I think it's time for another report!

Apart from the fact that 27 means the death of several singers, this Oldies edition is entirely dedicated to the bitcoin life. “Bitcoin has no use case.” I think we're past this stage!

You would think so, right? I have heard both Nassim Taleb and Nouriel Rubino say it fairly recently on mainstream US media!
reply
It's true that this may be a biased opinion on my part and that there are still old men who don't learn or are against it. I think the second hypothesis is more credible! Ahah
