pull down to refresh

Over the last 25 years, I have been struggling to find time to practice regular exercise. Most of the time I have been running through the city or countryside. As my joints are becoming noisier, I have changed the running for walk-run intervals which it seems to work better at my age.
To be honest, there are some parts of the year which are harder to exercise. In particular, winter is the hardest for me and, most of years, I ended up cutting my exercise due to cold, rain or whatever excuse you can imagine.
Last year, after joining SN in April, I found out that there was an app that was paying sats for the steps you make daily. Initially they were rewarding 15 sats daily , though recently they cut it down to 10 a day.
After a couple of months, I read a post by @Workit_LN in SN where they were launching an app to complete challenges, which rewarded sats upon completion. In addition, they were rewarding 1 sat per 1000 steps up to 10 sats daily.
As a consequence, I have ended up adding over 10000 steps daily since may last year, which has helped to control my weight and feeling fitter.
So, it is hard to commit to exercise but finding some rewards system may help you to achieve your goals.
Are you using any system to help you to achieve your goals? Is it really helping? Please, share your views if something is helping you so we all can benefit from it.
i don't know if 10 sats a day would motivate me, the pools sound interesting though. but what happens is everyone hits their targets ?
reply
Most of them have had some additional prize that gets split by a few people selected at random.
So far, many more people fail to complete than I would have expected: between 20-50% in the pools I've done.
reply
I am not sure why people join the challenges but they do not complete them. However, it's good for us as we are committed to them!
reply
They must not have been sufficiently chastised by Darth about the value of sats.
reply
Hahaha!
reply
Hey! If everyone wins, you get your Bitcoin back. We only take a cut if someone fails the challenge.
reply
I know it's not a big amount but it's more the motivation side of it. Regarding the pool, till now, there has been a bunch of people missing the target every single pool.
reply
That's awesome! Congrats.
Such a small reward, really, but psychologically makes all the difference lol
reply
Yes, it is more the motivation side of it.

At the end of the day, you get the benefit of exercising, the sats is an addition to it.
reply
Jokes on u I just do it for the sats! Get Rich or Die with Abs

My country gives me 10 points for clocking 5000 steps every day. Accumulate 1500 points n I will get $10 supermarket vouchers.
I don’t necessarily need to slog for 150 days to get this voucher because I can earn points in other ways, such as buying healthier foods at the supermarkets and food courts.
reply
Someone do the math there, but sounds roughly like same ballpark as 10 sats a day

What works the best for me, is to find a group an exercise with more people. You will feel the social pressure to go out for a run with peers.
A community is a great network to support and keep your habits.
reply
It's true but sometimes it's difficult to find a group of people to exercise with because of work or time constraints.
reply
I think activities become much better when you're rewarded for them. You're doing great.

Would you mind saying which app is that? I downloaded sMiles at the beginning of 2022 and I've tried it many, many, many times on three different phones. It has never counted a single step, even though other apps (Sport Tracker, Wikiloc, etc.) work fine and I've walked well over 10000 many times.
The rewards on sMailes work for other things, like playing chess, solving chess puzzles, or even watching promo videos, but never for walking, since it doesn't register a single step.
reply
I have used two apps. One is WorkIt which I think is great when completing challenges as you receive some extra sats. I think that @Undisciplined mentioned before something between 20-50% of invested in the challenge, fully agree with him.
The other app is sMiles . I have been using it for 8 months and have not had any issues with steps. The only downside is you must collect up to 5k sats before you can withdraw them.
reply
He's talking about Workit.
The steps part is just like sMiles, but the challenges are where the money's at.

Thanks. After looking for it on the Zapstore, then F-droid, and finally the Gøøgł€ store, and not find it, I've looked on SearXNG and it seems it's only for the rich, who own a fruit phone.
reply
Yes, it's true. Not sure why they only offer the challenges through the fruit store. I believe they were considering other stores.
reply
That's right. It's only on fruit phone at the moment. I believe they're working on a non-fruit version.
reply
Ya workit is a good app to help boost your moral
reply
Hey, good job. Consistency is really hard, so I'm happy you found something to keep moving.
reply
Thanks!

We are working on the Android version, so stay tuned!
reply
Not yet! I believe they are working on adding to android shortly but perhaps @Workit_LN can give more info.
reply
Yeah! Not on Android 😏
reply
You know it, Workit buddie.
We're looking good for January. More than 20% of the pool is out already.
Putting sats on the line is a huge motivator. I'm definitely willing to let myself down, but I won't let my sats down.
reply
Yes! Having skin in the game is crucial!

That’s intimate. buddie
