I'm not very optimistic about SNL skits these days, but last night's Chapelle skits seem like he wrote them. They remind me of the skit show that made Chapelle so famous.

In general, when they bring in a guy with sketch experience, I assume he'll have a hand in things to a greater degree (similarly, I assume all stand-ups bring their own monologues, while actors usually don't).
These were solid, and better, I think, than the ones he did last time he hosted.

Chapelle is a fucking comedy genius, there's no two ways about it.
I can't even count how many times I watched his show, we used to just leave those DVDs on.

These were not even remotely funny, Chapelle's best days are over if he has to show up on SNL
His specials were pretty good but this... I don't know man...
I actually remember the days when SNL was funny....

Counterpoints:
- These were remotely funny.
- Guest hosting SNL has never been a sign of trouble for anyone's career.
- SNL is as funny as always. People just remember "Lazy Sunday" instead of "the up and down ninety minutes that includes 'Lazy Sunday.'"

Chapelle could teach that whole crew a thing or ten about comedy.
