I'm not talking about the pile of chemicals masquerading as meat like the Impossible burger but actual meat grown in a lab. Personally I don't see any reason not to eat lab grown meat, it's literally the same, except you get to reduce the suffering caused by factory farming. What's your thoughts?

Might be even healthier than some of the natural meats we get on our plates these days. At least, there'd be much more control.

Probably. If it was grown in a sterile environment, they wouldn't have to pump it full of antibiotics.

If it is formed unaturally I feel like there would be side effects unknown. I need to research the data to see if it is bad over longer time periods.

Only if the process was transparent, reproducible and a monopoly on its production didn't exist.

I have no real problem with the theory of it, but I don't really trust the implementation. I think either intentionally or more likely unintentionally it would become a "pile of chemicals masquerading as meat".
I'm not sure we fully understand all the ways in which animals grow meat, and fear that we would wind up missing out on a few key parts that wouldn't be replicated in the lab, which would then cause long-term health issues.

I want to try meat cloned from my own DNA.

I'm actually on board with that.

Why would there be more of a risk than cloning meat from a cow?

I'm fine with the idea of it. Unless it became fairly cheap, though, I would probably stick with my beans and greens.
reply
I think over time it would become cheaper.

I would give it a shot.

I imagine it would be pretty good. They could decide the fat content and everything.
