Mahatma Gandhi described the process of social change in four stages:

  1. First they ignore you (Silent at first)
  2. Then they laugh at you (Mocked in delight)
  3. Then they fight you (Struggle, a challenging fight)
  4. Then you win (Victory crowns the end of the tale)
