Today for some reason I googled what the eyes ๐ emoji means.
The top hits mostly suggested it meant to indicate situations of drama, or flirting, or side-eye indicating disbelief.
Now, that was surprising to me, because in most of the contexts I've used it, it meant, "I'm looking into this," or "I saw your post and acknowledge it."
I hope no one got the wrong impression!
Honestly, I used it with the intention of saying: "Attention, you must look at this" ๐
I think context matters. On github, when you ๐ my comment, I'm fairly confident you aren't flirting with me.
On code / pull req comments I still translate it to "wait what?!?" every time I see it. I just convince myself that that's not what the author of the moji means to tell me.

If it, I definitely am.
I used to think that ๐represent some form of resentment towards the preceding comment. But I them realise it actually meant to show surprise and people use it for different reasons.
Based on context:
"Oooh" curiosity ๐
or
"I see" ๐
Good post! I use it all the time ๐
This
They are a verb can mean i see u! or oh shit! Or ok ! Very versatile cam even mean damn
โI am looking at thisโ
I SEE YOU ๐
I take it to mean surprised or Iโm watching you. Didnโt know that itโs a flirty emoji!
condescension and pearl clutching
I use them to acknowledge that I've seen the comment
๐ what if we made the ui so if you comment just an emoji it gets rolled up into the comment above
This is how signal does it. there is diffrent rendering for an emoji only message vs one with test and emoji
People could reply multiple emoji
or allow emoji reactions when zapping
Emoji reaction behind zap? ๐
i need to setup the dev environment for stacker then ill program it so I can show what i mean
๐
It's very dependent on context for me
I never knew so many people at work were trying to flirt with me
I wouldn't do that... why, are you cute? ๐
My mom thinks I'm cute
She's probably right. Most moms are.
at work if somebody shares a pr it means im reviewing it or looking at it
Professional vs personal context. I always assumed it was playful, or watching drama or the like. But in professional contexts, I believe it means โIโm looking into itโ, as you said
I think I only knew the professional use of it... now I'm thinking back to whether I ever used it in a non professional context
I thought it was meant to describe surprise "look at this".
I indicate being interested in the topic or waiting for an answer to the question.
For me it means surprise, when a comment is strange or goes too far.
For me this emoji I use it to say I'm shocked or wtf or like I'm seeing you in a spying type of way lol. So many contexts for me actually.
โWhoa look over thereโ
Nothing.
may be an interesting subject
