On average, direwolves stood about 2.5 to 3 feet tall at the shoulder (around 76–91 cm) and measured approximately 5 to 5.5 feet in length (1.5–1.7 meters) from nose to tail base. Their weight is estimated to have ranged between 125 to 175 pounds (57–79 kg), though some larger specimens might have pushed closer to 200 pounds (90 kg). For comparison, a modern gray wolf typically weighs 70–145 pounds (32–66 kg) and is slightly smaller in stature.
Would be really cool to see extinct animals brought back to life, it would also be fun to see how many of our estimated illustrations of such animals are actually accurate
They did go extinct for a reason, though. I heard they couldnt fly. It would be nice to see some animals, but can they actually harvest viable dna of the animals that are already extinct?
My pet theory is that dodos were super annoying and our ancestors purposely wiped them out because they were trying to do us a favor. We'll bring them back and find out they make some horrible screeching noise that makes our ears bleed or something.
The scientists then rewrote the 14 key genes in the cell’s nucleus to match those of the dire wolf; no ancient dire wolf DNA was actually spliced into the gray wolf’s genome.
"Key genes" makes me wonder how much these wolves are representative of dire wolves. It sounds like there are more than 14 genes that are distinct from grey wolf genes.
Whether the existing dire wolves or others Colossal might produce will be allowed to mate and spawn a next generation of wolves naturally is not yet known. Handlers can monitor the female estrous cycles and separate the animals at key times or employ contraceptive implants that keep the wolves from producing young until it is determined whether they have any abnormalities that could be passed on.
Don't murder me:

We might be the only two here who know that song.
There’s no accounting for taste
I wonder if these wolves will be released in Fennario?
Stumped me. I don't know this track.
I don't care what happened in Jurassic Park this is really cool...
edit: ahhh i guess Game of Thrones threw me off, they're not as big as I thought:

fuck... you read this shit/tampering with extinct DNA, and Jurassic Park doesn't pop riiight into your head?
view on www.youtube.comIt would be interesting if they bring back the dodo.
They were supposedly very tasty.

That would be hilarious if they breed them and they turn out to be super annoying.

Straight out of Jurassic Park.
Cool.
