Nostr is really about the people you follow. You need to unfollow or mute anyone that posts something that you don't like. That helps a lot.
I have a "Home" nostr list with ~13 people that post great content and that's all I'm seeing by default.
I know. The problem is, they posted all the same type of content (memes mostly), so I unfollowed or muted too many from an already small user base. I guess social media is not for me.
nah, I followed the missing people from your list, but my feed is still short and repetitive, showing the same few posts for three days in a row. no point opening.
No built-in key management, Primal’s centralized server disguised as "just a caching service," zaps you can fake according to the spec, the hyped dream of rebuilding the whole internet on top of websockets and JSON, too much faith in believing nostr will stay decentralized when it already isn’t because most users+influencers flocked to a centralized service the moment one with good UX showed up (Primal), not making security advisories in the NIPs repo public after they have been fixed
It's not really slow growth though—it's actual shrinkage. Since the New Year down by about 12% or so. Also those dropping off are likely to be genuine users and not the suspect portion of the daily "trusted" pub keys. So maybe 20-30% shrinkage in actuality, who can say. These things go up and down, but it's been years at this general level already, and I have a feeling the next 12 months or so will determine how robust Nostr really is.
Most of people got wrong what nostr is. Like they did with bitcoin too.
Nostr is a communication protocol not an alternative to twatter. You can do so many other cool things than posting some meaningless memes and GMs.
Yes, I use nostr for posting memes but I see people trying to engage in discussions there, in public. FFS nostr is not to discuss and especially not to post private information ! The information you post on nostr it could stay forever online and you don't even know who save it on his relay...
As many see bitcoin as a "get rich in fiat scheme", same they see nostr as "no twatter, use nostr". Wrong. Both are protocols. What we do with these protocols depends on each of us.
And just an example: NWC. Very few see the powerful it is.
The quality of literature on SN is very high, Nostr is mainly shitposting with the minority of excellent notes, where I'm wondering if the npub is unaware of SN.
Can see why koob was advertising for a head of SN engagement the other day
