Since the beginning of 2025, we’ve been hosting one educational Bitcoin community event per month. While we understand that Bitcoin—like the internet and mobile phones—should follow a natural learning curve, we strive to bring real knowledge about this marvel to those who seek it.
We kicked off January by enjoying the documentary Bitcoin Revolution: The New Paradigm, produced in 2021 and released in 2025. February followed with another documentary, INCONFISCABLE by Adrián Bernabéu. Both films showcase how Bitcoin is a solution for any use case.
March was full steam ahead. On the 1st, the community launched the first edition of Bitcoin Fácil (Easy Bitcoin), a course entirely created by CubaBitcoin—spanning weeks, held online, with participants from 8 countries. It was thrilling. For five Saturdays, we shared knowledge in two-hour sessions. Then, on March 2nd, we held a meetup with Bitcoin community members and local businesspeople to discuss the benefits of adopting Bitcoin in commerce.
April was no different. On the 25th, 26th, and 27th, we hosted Trezor Academy. One of CubaBitcoin’s certified instructors traveled to the Isle of Youth, where newcomers learned about money, on-chain transactions, Lightning, and hardware wallets. We also took the opportunity to hold a Blockstream Local workshop, teaching about Jade and the affordable Cuban alternative, LilyGo ESP32. Attendees even saw how to flash the DIY firmware for Blockstream Jade. The grand finale was a Twitter Space with CubaBitcoin, discussing Cashu—a solution for Bitcoin without internet or electricity.
It’s been a full-throttle start to the year. It takes effort and hard work—but that’s what Bitcoin is all about: Proof of Work (PoW).
What’s next?
  • Pizza Day in May
  • Onboarding 20 Bitcoin-accepting businesses between May and July
We’ll keep sharing updates here on how things progress

  • Pizza Day en mayo
I lived 20 years in pure communism, I know very well how is it. I don't know exactly how is the life today in communist Cuba and the restrictions you have, but I know you have many.
I am really impressed of your courage and determination to do all this Bitcoin education in a regime where you can be persecuted just for talking freely.
How do you guys deal with the regime there? Are you harassed by the gov, are you doing this in the hidden, or in open. Do they (gov agents) close the eyes when is about Bitcoin and let you in peace or you have to do tricks to not be caught?
Because is clear now that Bitcoin is a subversive tool for a communist government.

Friend @DarthCoin, you know that your guides have been very valuable to us—they're included in our community's pinned messages. For now, we have a certain degree of freedom, or at least they aren’t interfering with our work. We have a place to hold our monthly meetups, and now we want to make them twice a month. For businesses, we go in person to talk to merchants. It’s easier to show what Bitcoin is than to explain what Bitcoin is. So we follow some of your advice: We arrive, set up the LNbits QR from CubaBitcoin, create a Lightning wallet for them, send them 21 sats, and they immediately see how Bitcoin works. If they're interested, we later help them set up BTCPay Server or Zeus via LNDHub, add the Zeus POS, and that’s it. The LNbits POS isn’t very visually appealing, and initially, they’d have to pay 1,000 sats, so we prefer Zeus or BTCPay.
That’s how we’re working. They don’t fully align with Bitcoin’s philosophy, but their masters—the BRICS—use Bitcoin for some things, so they aren’t attacking us for now.

at least they aren’t interfering with our work.
That is a very good thing !
initially, they’d have to pay 1,000 sats,
Why that? Is a fee charged by the LNbits bank runner or what? Or you are referring to the physical POS ?

" Why that? Is a fee charged by the LNbits bank runner or what? Or you are referring to the physical POS ?"
It's a fee for installing the POS extension in Lnbits. It must be a fee, which isn't entirely bad, but honestly, LNbits' POS isn't very impressive. Besides, with Zeus, we're gradually guiding them toward considering their own node and getting familiar with the app. LNDHub isn't the same as an embedded node, but they already have the app, which even includes Cashu once your node is synchronized.

Wait what?! I have installed Lnbits many times and never had to pay for that extension. Maybe the Lnbits admin instance make it payable for you, because you are using his instance and node, but the extension is free (if you run your own instance).
reply
Yes, that's correct. This extension is included as a paid feature for the service provided. As I mentioned, it's not much, but in reality, with BTCPay—an instance that the community also has its own of, which is completely free—and the Zeus POS, there's no need to pay for the POS service in LNbits.
This is what matters! Reading about your work is inspirational. Thanks for keeping us all up to date.

Thank you for your words. We must share with everyone what we do and thus inspire others to help as well—that’s what Bitcoin is about. Helping, sharing, being, and letting others be.
