No, not really. I grew up in mostly shitty neighborhoods. My adult life is pretty good, so I don't really look back too often.

I greatly miss my two years in Japan, in which I lived alone and didn’t have to be accountable to anyone,

Right now, my daughter is trying her best to press buttons on the bus. Grrrrr

Ok, now that you mention it, I really miss my one bedroom apartment when I lived alone too. I suspect that I may have also married an oni baba though, so it may be the time of life more than the place. 😉
