Tomorrow we are doing practical workshop on running your own node at local Bitcoin meetup so I’m collecting good reasons for individuals to do that. Curious what you all think?

Also, good options to make the setup and maintenance easy. What do people here use? Umbrel? Start9 Plain Bitcoin core?

I have no idea how the CoinOS fund feature works. It seems like anyone can just take the money.

Anything particular about Manna? Or I can use any other wallet like Phonix etc?

What's the gift link? It says whovere opens the link can sweep all the funds. Someone I (phaedrus) have access to create the link. Did you give me that access to your fund? Or anyone can do that (I hope not!)

I'm considering using https://geyser.fund but not sure if it's a good fit since that's like one-time project and I don't want to create new geyser project every month. Anyone tried using Geyser like this?

I run a small local Bitcoin meetup and there are some expenses with it, mostly buying pizza, which I buy using Lightning. I can get some company sponsor, but I think it would be more Bitcoiner-style if we pay it collectively, value4value style. I could just put up QR code with my BOLT12 re-usable invoice, but I would like for people to see transparently how much sats is in the fund and when I spend some on the pizza.

Is there a good solution for this? Any suggestions?

Book: How the Code Rebels Beat the Government Saving Privacy in the Digital Age

The book is called Crypto but it was published  in 2002 so it means “cryptography”.

I just finished it and it’s incredible. It describes the war between government (ie NSA) and public, whether encryption should be open. It gave me hope for Bitcoin and I highly recommend it because I’m convinced the lessons from this book will be extremely relevant and helpful in the Bitcoin war.
