Biggest problem for Iran, is I do not see how they can hope to contest, let alone reestablish control of their own airspace
All their airforce and serious air defence was seemingly destroyed or negated in the opening strikes
Hence Israel has air superiority and freedom of action over Iran
Not a single Israeli aircraft beyond a drone, has been successfully shot down over Iran yet with any form of confirmation
And there are still Mossad and special forces teams operating on the ground in Iran
Iranian response is limited to the, while spectacular, ultimately, so far rather limited in destruction, ballistic missile volleys on Israel, which I question the long term sustainability of conducting.
Meanwhile Israel is seriously degrading the official Iranian military now, after the IRGC elements were already extremely degraded in the first attacks, and Israel is now moving on to the main economic infastructure of the Iranian state
Plus, the fact that Iran is full of traitors and Israeli assets who seem more than happy to sell out their own side and give targets of senior Iranian officials and assets to Israel
Not writing them off yet, but the state of play is extremely against Irans favour in this

War in Iran is immensely to Russia's benefit
The US is diverting crucial anti air systems from Ukraine to Israel
Increase in the price of oil, is a God send to the Russian state budget, especially if this is dragged out and Iran is able to close or significantly complicate oil exports via the straits of Hormuz
Iran moves further from being an opportunistic supplier of arms to Russia, to a desperate seeker of support from Moscow
The world's attention on the middle East, means it is less on Ukraine
This is a golden window for Russia

How do you think they will take advantage of it? Will they be hauling Finland back to neutrality and the Baltic states back into orbit? Or just deconstruct NATO OTAN? I think that the US and Israel have bitten off more than they can chew at this point.

πŸ” Exploring Bitcoin's wealth distribution: a mere 19,711 addresses hold over $10M, while a whopping 24M manage under $100. A testament to #Bitcoin's vast ecosystem of financial inclusion and digital scarcity.
How do you stack up? πŸ’‘πŸŒ

I'm not sure that UTXO size distribution tells us that much about wealth distribution in bitcoin.
Almost half the UTXO set is made up of UTXOs with less than 1000 satoshis. These probably aren't people who are trying to hold bitcoin, but rather inscriptions, runes, and the like or just dust. I guess it doesn't change the meaning of the chart much, but it is probably more weighted toward the middle than it seems.

I absolutely loathe the LLM pattern of:
  • "It isn't [thing]. It's [other thing]."
  • "It doesn't [this], it does [other this]."
It's an effective way to convey meaning, because contrast is how we see and smell and think, which why I suspect it pops up in these machines that are desperate to make meaning, but it's a bit like eating a gallon of ice cream all at once.
reply
The only reason you see this a lot in LLMs is that their training included a lot of it. The LLMs are just big statical, this word comes after that word, language generators. To distinguish yourself from an LLM, you just have to do things that are not very statistically likely.

I think that's true to some extent, and how they're explained to work at a very high level, but it's not purely a statistical thing. If it were, we would've had LLMs a long time ago.
reply
Perhaps it is part of the training where humans are involved. Maybe the trainers were frustrated English Lit majors. That could account for several deficiencies in the LLMs. :)

This is what happiness looks like
Ditched my usual uniform of shorts and slippers to doll myself up, even to the extent of wearing an accessory that was given to me pre-fatherhood. What’s the occasion? I hear you ask.
THIS IS THE FIRST NIGHT IN 2025 I’M GOING OUT TO RECLAIM MY SOCIAL LIFE. I’m not even being melodramatic. I told my Year Head earlier in February point-blank that β€œno, I can’t stay for the Y2 camp because I need to rush back to pick up my kids.” The opportunity costs of fatherhood are very real and painful for me.
And yes, I finally got the balls to apply for Leave for Absence from my wife because a friend had won free tickets to Nicholas Teo’s concert. I don’t even know any of his songs other than γ€Šε½“δ½ ε€ε•δ½ δΌšζƒ³θ΅·θ°γ€‹. BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT! The point is, I get to strut down the streets at night, with a spring in my step and a goofy grin on my face.
I am so happy! 😁
