Unfortunately for me, less building and more business / startup things. I truly am amazed by @k00b being so versatile in both dev and startups with such a small team. How do you find the time to code? :'(

reply

The secret is to just rip off the business bandaid, show up for it whenever necessary, then switch back to building as soon as you can. Spend the minimally viable amount of time there.

I eventually learned to batch meetings. They're maybe slightly less productive batched, but way more focus-efficient.

It also helps to admit to people exactly where you are with stuff. "I have no idea what I'm doing ... it's my first time" - I said to every pre-seed investor, to my accountant, to the designers I've contracted. If they are trustworthy, they'll fill you in and help you along. If they try to take advantage of you, cut them out.

It allows you prep minimally - mostly just understanding what someone abusing you in a certain context looks like - then showing up and paying attention.

How do you solve the whole admin side? creating a company, taxes, payroll, etc?, just paying someone to do all of that?

reply

Oh there's lot of great tooling now for creating a company (angellist stack, stripe atlas, etc etc) and doing payroll (gusto). I'm paying corporate taxes for the first time and hired an accountant. Although it seems there's no easy solve for bookkeeping/labelling expenses - only I know what I spent the money on. I had a lawyer create an option pool.

Most of this legal business stuff is the worst though. Governments have terrible UX, but its bad enough industries have formed to make it easier.

I have zero technical expertise and work in a completely unrelated field but have successfully orangepilled several people deep in the bear market.

reply

Impressive. What was your strategy and how did you deal with the pushback?

reply

Slow and steady. Use lots of real world examples of prices inflating and quality of life dropping. Discuss housing prices and how the fed directly controls market prices through interest rates. Make people realize they have no control over their destiny since they are at the Fed’s mercy, unless they opt out into a money the Fed cannot tinker with. Slow and steady.

Reading through Michael Saylor's first interview with Robert Breedlove on the What Is Money show.

We will be summarizing that 16.8k word piece into just 467 words.

Also working on editing/polishing and posting another summary right now.

Yesterday I implemented slashtags auth and will probably ship that today.

Just finished up implementing slashtags auth. Overall pretty good experience. Took a solid day of work - most of which was spent trying to understand it and then situate it in my code. By comparison it took about a half day to do lnurl-auth.

When you're developing locally, the NAT holepunching is great. The documentation needs work but that's to be expected.

Going to review with fresh eyes tomorrow and deploy, then work on Open Timestamps.

Going to try to get Open Timestamps done today.

So many auths...

Have you looked into Passkeys/Webauthn at all? It looks really promising but there aren't very clear and consistent ways to implement afaik

reply

I'm working on myself.

Recently started tracking my habits, and it's night and day. When you start measuring things, you can improve a lot, much faster.

Here's the app I'm using if anyone is interested(open source):
