AUXILIO!!!

Yeah, I just forget how to properly embed it.

by the way, has anybody wrote the post-tutorial, how to use KaTeX or mathjax on stackerNews?

I think I need to double my SNL prep time and start writing about the things we're discussing. It's hard for me to patch my many knowledge gaps live and try to identify what's worth mentioning and recall what I read, even if I've read them a second time recently.

I can't verify the Polymarket tweet but I asked Gemini about MN:

In 2026, Minnesota’s standing for the 2030 Census is significantly more precarious than it was in 2020. While the state grew by 2.4% between 2020 and 2024 (reaching roughly 5.84 million), this pace is insufficient to keep up with the explosive growth in the Sun Belt.

2030 Outlook for Minnesota2030 Outlook for Minnesota

Current projections from Election Data Services and Esri indicate that Minnesota is "fairly certain" to lose a seat in 2030, dropping from 8 representatives to 7.

  • The Ranking Shift: In 2020, Minnesota held the very last seat (#435). By early 2026, models place Minnesota's 8th seat around #379 in the priority queue. This means 56 other state seats would need to be "skipped" for Minnesota to keep its eighth.
  • The Deficit: Based on mid-decade data, Minnesota would likely need to count approximately 51,525 more people than currently projected to retain that 8th seat.

Internal MN Population DynamicsInternal MN Population Dynamics

Growth is highly localized, creating a "two Minnesotas" demographic split:

Growth Leaders (2020–2024)Population Decline (2020–2024)
Wright County: +9.4%Ramsey County: -128,966 (projected long-term)
Carver County: +6.8%Hennepin County: Slowing growth/Domestic loss
Washington County: +6.7%34 Rural Counties: Active population loss

Key VulnerabilityKey Vulnerability

Minnesota’s primary drag is an aging population and negative domestic migration (more people moving to other states than moving in). To avoid the loss of the 8th seat, the state is now almost entirely dependent on international immigration and high census participation to offset these trends.

Would you like to see how the specific redistricting timeline for Minnesota looks between now and 2030?

Unfortunately, nostr DMs are among the worst fucking thing that ever went live in the history of compute. So imma just say this.

Honestly, the lunar punk link you posted yesterday was pretty cool. Sent me down a spelunking wonderland that I am going to be mining for a little while yet. Cherished links are a finer form of flattery.

I've met her, Amir, and their crew / sympathizers multiple times now. These people have a different view of the world than, say, your average Spark-pushing semishitcoiner. It's worth talking to them. Not to try and get them into the fold, but because they are so radically different from most people you know that you have an opportunity to learn.

Unlike some 110 ppl that just capitulate because they think looking like a rebel is cool. But their hollywood-style fata morgana does not live up to the real thing.

The United Kingdom sends 1, (one, as in one single, individual person) and Germany sends two, (as in, two people) as part of it's military contingent to support Denmark in Greenland

reply

I laughed so hard yesterday when they announced this. More NATO countries just sent a single officer 🤣

reply

Wait. I was opposed to the U.S. taking Greenland (they'll let us do whatever we want in any case) until I heard doing so might cause the dissolution of NATO. Now it sounds like a win-win.

A question: If we invade, say, Andorra, can we get kicked out of the U.N. too?

reply

No. If the US invades andorra you have to go through Spain or France so you cause WW3. It's land-locked, mountain locked.

If you invade Greenland you'll end BOTH NATO and the UN.

reply

it won't be the Schlieffen Plan part 2 or 3

reply

Not at all.

reply

If Trump wants to be funny he should send the Harlem Globetrotters over to conquer Greenland via a pickup basketball game

reply

hopefully Greenland will be the end of NATO, only 30 years overdue

edit:
If NATO Dies, Do We Really Have to Mourn?

Donald Trump's Greenland-gobbling may mean the end of the Atlanticist dream, which should have ended with the fall of communism

I went into the rabbit hole on the rumble vids of #1412245 and if he's right about even 1% of allegations then NATO is done.
