This is what Fortune reported Maasdorp to have said:

Looks like there's more reporting of it going on than I thought. I was just checking online headlines. This could also be a case of Russian propaganda (RT) outpacing western propaganda!

I was pretty surprised to read, a few weeks ago, that Saudi Arabia were looking to be part of the New Development Bank too.

Don't they largely just sell oil - and get paid only in USD?

Oh well, we'll see...
