Starlink is greatest threat to internet

Musk is a stooge for control and centralization and control. Starlink, a single ISP looking to make thousands of decentralized isps obsolete, is the greatest danger to free access to the internet.
Surprised how many dont see this at all. If I'm wrong, tell me why.

I don't think this is the case at all. Why would anyone pick Starlink if you can get something that is more stable and faster? Fiber is superior.
Starlink is just an alternative for folks that do not have the option of getting something better. It replaces 3G/LTE/5G connections, not fiber. Those mobile connections are usually just from one of a few bigger telecom providers.

lmao good grief. I'm on the fence if it's even worth refuting your silly theory because it sounds like you're convinced you're right.
Starlink, so long as they are providing internet solely through LEO satellites, will not become the central provider of internet for a variety of reasons.

StarLink is too expensive and unreliable for many applications, and for many users. Amazon is about to launch their StarLink competitor, and I'm sure we'll have another as well soon. I'm a big believer in the future of mesh networks though, and how decentralized money will ensure the ability to build open source globally.

You can buy a dish from Nigeria or Kenya or Mozambique I think even, (they won't ship to ZA but you can re-ship to ZA), but you provide a billing address in one of those countries. Then use the mobile/roam service. That lets you use the dish anywhere on the continent. (At least I think that is how it works)

Most of the people live in cities, not countryside. It makes no sense to use satellite Internet, when you can have fiber to the home or 5G mobile. Satellite Internet will always have higher latency, because of physics (speed of light).

In countries like Australia where the internet six, star link has been a game changer for remote areas.
Not a fan of Elon, but if I were in a remote area I'd use star link.
Now we just need more competition & get the prices down.

Think of this situation with electricity, it's not feasible to run power line to your house in the middle of nowhere if you don't use electricity already and would start out by maybe a couple of little lights and a TV. He just aren't consuming that much electricity, so purchases wouldn't pay for the infrastructure cost. 10 years later you've got washer and dryer and maybe electric water heater and this and that, and you're using a lot more electricity. Then at that point providing service to you becomes feasible, because you're buying more
It's kind of the same thing with starlink. There are so many people underserved and that do not use the internet much, but they will as access and cost to that data decreases thanks to Starlink. And when your usage increases then your consumption is such that doing a point-to-point wireless link to you or something like that becomes more economically viable. When you have that, then you're not going to need starlink anymore. And you're going to really appreciate the lower latency and higher bandwidth with those than what you get with starlink.

Naa, he is a facilitator. Nothing stops you from launching your own satellites and he will help you getting there. Private satellite service is a good thing, we need more competition, F cell towers that is soo 19th century :-) Everyone should have a sat phone by now with 10 diff provider choices fighting for the client, he is just the first, at least he cracked the door open. What did you do? Other than calling him a stooge. He is many things, but he is moving us forward... You on the other end... c'mon Debbie Downer ... lol
