Real estate idea: Condos where the primary luxury provided is time.
  • laundry service
  • maid service
  • interior designer works with you to personalize rented furnishings
  • kitchen/grocery service
  • gym with on-a-whim personal trainer sessions
Everything including utilities on one bill. I'd bet people would pay 2.5x comparable rent.
reply
There are luxury buildings that offer these types of concierge services. I used to service a building that offered services like this. I don't know about 2.5x the rent. If comparable rent for say a luxury condo building is 4k a month, do you really think people will pay 10k just to get all these amenities?
reply
I don't "really think" anything lol.
I was thinking about luxury in a non-traditional sense. I think this might be desirable even in a basic apartment complex sans floor to ceiling marble and windows.
You can make arrangements for these kinds of things anywhere you live for like 3-5k/mo. I'd guess doing it all in one building would provide some economy of scale so maybe it wouldn't be that expensive.
I think there are people who would pay. There might not be many of them though.
reply
I think it is plausible. Would make most sense in a community of buildings. Then your vendors get enough business to make it worthwhile and can charge a bit less.
I serviced a lot of residential buildings when I owned my business. 2 buildings side by side were always better than one and another one a 20 min drive away.

That’s been a thing for quite a while. See the world, avoid the poor and no rising sea levels. Drinks on me!

I saw that. Maybe you posted it here?
Cruises have always felt like a wacky indulgence to me, but similar vibe in a vacation context. Everything but the stuff you want to do is done for you.

You don’t have to be well off to value your time imho. You just have to value your time more than being well/better off.

Im starting to think 5G is a "scam". A result of our fiat world and consumer economy. Its hardly better than 4G. but because "its new" and execs and consumers are bored quickly and also swimming in fiat, the equipment and so on has been rolled out everywhere. Am i wrong? :)
reply
Cheap enough bandwidth and equipment not to worry about developers not being able to fill it. The complete dilemma comes from not being cheap and not having enough users to have a killer app.
reply
It’s too early to tell. The bandwidth that 5G brings is not a scam it’s faster than fiber. I just think today’s tech hasn’t developed goods and services to really showcase what 5G can do. It takes time.

I got to sleep in today, as it's my weekend. Of course what really happened: I went to sleep a few hours early yesterday and ended up waking up the same time as usual. Going to prepare for the my podcast tonight, Saturday Night LIT, episode 34. And of course, tomorrow I host Bitcoin Brunch #117. (I think.) Tell me what you've found interesting news in the last few weeks. Not bitcoin specific (though not excluded), news generally. Tech, culture, world news, local news, whatever.
I'll give 150 good ideas/news, 300 if there's a good citation, and 1000 for any ideas I use. The podcast is only an hour long so I can likely only use 5-10. I thank you for any suggestions.

Some states and conservative legal scholars are arguing that the 14th ammendment disqualifies Trump from running in the 2024 election and allows states to choose not to put him on the ballot. Really interesting if you're into that stuff. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/14th-amendment-section-3-new-legal-battle-trump/story?id=102547316

A Canadian website is considered responsible for supplying chemical substances which may be used to aid suicide. Police in the UK are unlikely to investigate. Very very strange. Shining an uncomfortable spotlight on the dark-web.
reply
the dark-web.
what does that phrase mean to you? to me it suggests needing a TOR browser to access the site. As they don't mention it in the article, I wonder why you used that phrase.
reply
I don’t see it as just an underlying or separate internet but also one intertwined with the existing. The dark web for me are websites or vendors offering services or products either covertly (using TOR) or by misrepresentation (ie plant food for powder highs) which may be illegal in some countries served.
There are more details around this and other cases available online - ‘Amazon suicide kits’ was one particularly unpleasant headline.

I already have Putin's Caterer on the list, but I will appreciate any interesting details with citations that add worthwhile color to the store.

Wife's birthday party today. Probably guilty of spending too much time on the internet trying to figure out the state of the world, was great to just switch off from current events and have a beer and a dance with the kids and some friends.

Check out my comment looking for news to talk about on my podcast :) You could probably get a few things in there with little effort

Not sure if it's what you're looking for but I'm interested in news about the timing of the inevitable fiat money collapse and the race between big corporations/governments instituting a global totalitarian CCP-style regime and the worlds population walking up to this fact and resisting before it's too late. Also where BTC fits into this and how we can use it to increase freedom and sovereignty.
Yesterday I mentioned that I orange pilled one of my friend. So today I got invited to hang out with him and his other friends because they got curious as well. The funny thing is that his friends are working at Morgan Stanly. Will be interesting discussion tonight. Let's see what happens. Maybe tomorrow I can let you know what happened.
Cheers. Stay humble stack sats.
