Could someone explain how a listener earns listening to podcasts on the fountain.fm app? I gave it a try a week or so ago, seemed at first to be earning sats while listening (animation was active, though still showed zero). Now, it doesn't seem to be earning sats while listening (animation not active). I read the link below, but thought someone here might have some insight. I'm sure it won't be much, but why not earn a handful of sats for doing something you already do?

I agree with the feedback below. They REALLY reduced the streamed sats back to you in the past few months and you often don’t receive in a week what you used to get in a day before. Not sure what is up with it.

Works fine for me. The daily earn is random. Sometimes you don't earn for multiple days in a row. Yesterday I earned 1 sat per minute but the day before was 8 sats per minute. You can also listen to the daily promoted podcasts to earn some sats as well.

If you go more than a week without earning your account may have tripped their automated security system. This happens to lots of people who either use a VPN or have travelled while using Fountain.
The system is supposed to automatically resume your earnings with a couple days in a row of consistent usage, but I had to contact them once to get my earnings turned back on.

I used it A LOT..
But some of my friends complained exactly like you.. Not sure why this is happening..
Make sure to have the app updated.. Maybe open a ticket if after a week you still dont receive ANY sat..
Las months the sats dropped a lot but they still pay.

I deleted the app a while back because it was creaming my battery, and I mostly listen to poddies on a browser, i don't often use an app
I heard a few people saying the sats are drying up, I guess thats bear markets for you, there were a bunch of podcasts promoting their content not too long ago and you could net something along with the fountain tips here and there
I think it was starting to get gamified, trying to encourage people to create clips and comments to recycle the sats in the system, I think it might also depend on your geography because I saw some people earning X sats for a podcast I listened to and their return was far higher
Which makes sense, all ad networks kinda profile users and allocate based on their possible return

Appreciate all the tips. I'll keep using it and see what happens, if anything. Then, if nothing else, I might say, "What's up?" to them and go from there. I normally used Google's podcast app, but why not try one that gives a few sats, maybe? If not, I'll probably revert back just to clear up space on the phone.

Getting off Google's crap is good by itself. IMO the best reason to use Fountain or any of the other new podcast apps is that they use the podcast index so you are outside of Apple's walled garden of podcasts. If you aren't happy with Fountain don't go back to Google. Try AntennaPod. Its free and open source and probably the best all around app on android.
