Hello my name is purpurato and I have a problem.
It all started a few years ago when someone told me of a new app that would let me chat to anyone on the phone, it felt pretty cool as adoption was quick and it was for free, this is when all my troubles started. In the beginning I felt connected and "part of a community" and it was great that I could send messages instantly to people I knew that were far away, some even in other continents. But when I knew about the company behind it and their practices, I felt used and wanted to quit asap. Addiction is horrible problem and it doesn't help when people around you are also into it.
It's been several years from those rosy days of discovering the new tech and being connected, but now it's clear to me that it wasn't for free and I just got hooked on a system that leaches my data and wrecks my privacy. I would like the world to know and use other less damaging products, but it was all in vain. Even stepping out to Telegram seems like an insurmountable obstacle to most people I talk to, so here I am, still stuck in this horrible thing. Should I quit and lose contact with most?
P.S: you don't want to know how they feel about quitting fiat
Wait... in 2023 people still use that crap?

Every single time there is a group to share info or whatever, it's done on whatsapp. I can see most people are not even on Telegram and I don't even want to try to drag them, cause it has most of the same issues in whatsapp, just from the ruskies.
I even met someone the other day and we were about to share contact details, and he handed me his phone with the instagram open ffs, like "aren't you on ig? you live on a cave?" And if it's a girl, they think you're cheating. Can I go back to normieland?
