How a seedsigner differs from a cold card or blockstream jade?
reply
  • you don't show the world that you buy a bitcoin wallet, you buy some computer parts, can even buy them from separate stores or vendors
  • no trust in any company needed to not put in back doors or whatever
  • seed signer open source
  • lower cost
Maybe missed something idk.

Maybe someone is trying to fool us into thinking there's been a boating accident.

Dumbass with a dumbass wife.

That shouldn't be the takeaway. The takeaway should be popularizing multisig models that use things like 2fa (mobile key and desktop key) to authorize transactions and slowly fading out single sig hot wallets.
reply
Can you 2fa any wallet with a yubikey?
reply
I was thinking of using a desktop wallet to generate a signed psbt that would get scanned via qr code to one's phone before getting signed and broadcast there.
I haven't seen any articles about trying to use yubikeys to make ECDSA secp256k1 signatures from this year but it seems possible with some manual intervention (see the comment in the 1st link). Here are some of the newer articles I found from google:

Losing 11BTC is a federal crime and you must plead guilty.

This reminds me of Dashjr hack a while ago. It's really amazing how OGs and expert people put their big stacks at risk like this, while everyone is so paranoid today and we have so many good tools.

Lmfao. Y’all should backup to cold wallets like Trezor if you haven’t already.

It's simple...

Keeping funds in a hot wallet, using Windows, installing random-ass shady software. With so many OpSec holes I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.

  1. If I were in his position I wouldn't have the strength to post about the hack... especially if it was 11 btc
  2. I'm surprised he only mentions his wife... Maybe she's more dangerous than an experienced hacker at extorting money :P:P:P:P

Talked to my wife. She tried to install a voice changer software yesterday from a link on twitter and it didn't install. This is a windows 11 PC. I see something new called WingFtpServer as a startup program. That has to be it. C'est la vie Embarrassed

I only have 0.2 Bitcoin and I would never let anyone use my computer/phone.

How was it actually lost? Storing the seed on his desktop?

Small mistakes that cost a lot.
