Aliens have gone from a kooky philosophical subject and tinker toy for conspiracy theorists to becoming a mainstream thing. Videos are becoming declassified, government figures are discussing them, and intelligence officers are whistleblowing. Information wants to be free, sure, but governments are beginning to lend the disclosures credibility.
While people regularly transcend narrow self interest, I find it helpful to look at how self interest is being served, and the authenticity of recent disclosures are irrelevant to this kind of analysis. The facts are: (1) information is being disclosed and (2) the government is lending it credibility.
Here are some potential hidden motivations for the recent disclosures:
  • to give an increasingly secular populace a new god, ie something bigger than themselves to believe in
    • eg make eating bugs and owning nothing seem quaint
  • make governments cool again and inspire people to join governments
    • if the gov can't compete on pay or impact, how about gaining access to scarce information?
  • make governments appear more organized and sophisticated than they otherwise appear
  • intimidate our enemies abroad by implying we're more sophisticated than we appear
  • encourage spending more money on the military industrial base by implying there's more value being created than appears
There are also other less paranoid and less interesting explanations for the recent disclosures of course:
  • the information was steadily being leaked and the government had no choice but to publicly begin participating in disclosure
  • this once classified information no longer needs to be classified so the government is beginning to disclose it
I don't have an opinion on the authenticity of the recent disclosures. But, as an enjoyer of kooky philosophical subjects and conspiracy theory spectating, I find the whole thing odd enough to enjoy thinking about it.

On the topic of odd, one recent theory on the disappearance of MH370 is that it was teleported away. One of the bigger promoters of this theory believes the US government teleported the aircraft to save the scientists on board. He does a great job of constructing the conspiracy especially when compared to his peer group. However, his conspirators, the US military, are (1) incredibly sophisticated and (2) unflinchingly heroic which stands out like a shag carpet or a record player in the interior of contemporary conspiracy theories.
I think the universe is teeming with life. I also know human intentions are not pure. Governments have been deceiving people since their inception. While you can find a seed of truth in most deceptions, it's distorted in order to manipulate the masses, remove more human rights and gain more power.
I'm sure aliens exist. I'm not negating the fact they visited our planet. I also don't negate that the US government has intel on it. I completely mistrust the government being the messenger though. We just had a fake pandemic promoted by said governments, the money is failing, global tension is increasing and wars are on the rise. But you know what you should distract yourself with? Alines!!! Fuck outta here...
I don't care about the government telling me aliens exist. I'm convinced they do. I'm worried about how will governments manipulate the masses with this information. To me this all seems staged and a psyop.

This is my favourite comment of all time. Calm and measured and then “fuck outta here..”
Never change @kaizen or you stackers. Extremely well put.

One thing I find odd is the timing of all the alien stuff coming to light. The paranoid side of me thinks classified info is used as ammo. Or a flare gun. Shoot in case of emergency to distract people from something else. WHAT ARE THEY DISTRACTING US FROM 😹

Interesting. I definitely think aliens could be used as another way for government to accrete power.

The last chapter in the book "The Creature from Jekyll Island" talks about this. The last 2 chapters of that book get a little conspiratorial and hypothetical.
But the book really caused me to think different about this subject. I spent a few years in my 20's diving deep into UFO research. The amount of evidence is huge, even though it's all anecdotal. I was convinced that NHI were here and have been here for centuries.
But Edward Griffin's book has me questioning everything about it. We're talking about the world's wealthiest elite.... the absolute top of the Cantillionaire class. They might have the resources to pull off a massive, multi-decade hoax of this size, including staged abductions, and advanced arial trickeries.
reply
My attempt to unpack the available evidence didn't quite lead me to the same conclusion, but you're right about the amount of pretty credible evidence being really large.
I have a relative who's a pilot and has some anecdotes that add to my sense that a lot of the reports could pretty easily be people's perceptions not being reliable in highly unusual circumstances. Coupled with experimental aircraft and intentional psyops, there might not be anything else to see here.
I saw someone post about how the death rate of test flight pilots plummeted at the same time as UFO crashes started being reported. Big if true, as they say.

I ain't ever eating bugs... but it's kind of interesting how people seem to have no issues eating lobsters and crabs... when I stare at them too long I start to think they look like bugs and it kind of grosses me out. I'm not a fan of drumsticks for the same reason all of the little tendons reminds me I'm eating an animal...
reply
Lobsters and crabs are in the same phylum as insects: arthropoda. In fact, lobster used to be considered trash food (because they look gross), until some time in the 19th century.

The best one is about trump being a possible time traveler that's why his skin is orange and there's even a book fictional that ties in eerily to him and what he's doing pretty interesting also how his uncle worked with Tesla technology back in the day I think the government letting out all this alien stuff is just to distract from debt and their bad decisions also giving these conspirators more ammo so they can come up with false things and just keep feeding the conspiracy machine to churn out some non truth given the fact some conspiracies have actually beaten true and not conspiracies like the jfk assassination losing the body...magic bullet...also the towers....the list goes on I enjoy this thread @k00b cheers sir

Most likely reason in my opinion. Additionally governments increasingly depend on fear as a reason for the public to need them. Think about the war on terror, covid, climate change, and AI. The gov loves to hype up fear and use it to gain more control. Fear is a great unifier.

I like to imagine that the actual aliens observing us are having a brainfuck trying to figure this out.
"Have they actually detected us or are they just pretending to each other but are too scared to reach out to us?"

The more I read about the UFO topic the more I believe that you have to take any explanation you may have and multiply by a strangeness factor of about X100.
I think every bullet point you listed is true and happening to some extent. The real discussion needs to be focused on the technology and how to safely transition nearly 8 billion people into a Post-Einsteinian world.
Step one is probably something like make a perfect money so we've got that going for us. But honestly no matter how many citadels in the wild we build, we're still sharing an atmosphere with the likes of Putin, Xi, and Biden.

I think that everything related to aliens is used to distract or cause panic......
Or maybe they are sitting in the presidency of each country governing 👀
reply
I would be careful to ascribe too much competence to the governments in question. I don't think anyone is looking to use it to distract us for some bigger purpose. These are self-serving parasites, and their biggest concern is to make sure their skins are preserved after the decades of crimes they committed.
This has been building over decades of leaks and small disclosures. It only seems sudden because it finally reached a melting point where it boiled over into the mainstream.

It's funny cause we literally talked about this last weekend. Something to remember is that the sheer volume of alien-centric content in diff forms of media points towards a deliberate narrative or psyop, which will significantly influence public perception. What your seeing on youtube is lazy yellow press journalism at its best and has no actual proof, its all circumstantial evidence, which in these type of "alien" situations requires more direct evidence.
There are a number of dark paths this world could take. It's why I believe it's so important to focus on the stuff that brings us light. But yes, it's great to put the tin foil hat on from time to time to talk about it.
